All Ford F-150 EcoBoost Trucks to get Auto Start-Stop Feature

Ford Motor Company has announced it will include Auto Start-Stop on all Ford F-150 EcoBoost trucks, starting in 2017. Auto Start-Stop is exactly what it sounds like: the engine shuts off when stopped and when the brake is released, the engine quickly restarts. The transition is seamless.

Although it depends on how a person drives, overall the feature contributes to better fuel mileage while reducing emissions. It should be noted, Auto Start-Stop does not function in four-wheel-drive or when towing to maintain power on demand.

“EcoBoost already powers F-150’s best-in-class towing,” said Doug Scott, Ford Truck Group Marketing Manager. “Now, with every EcoBoost-equipped F-150 mildly electrified with standard Auto Start-Stop technology, fuel efficiency is expected to improve as well.”

Auto Start-Stop will also be included on the high-output 3.5-liter EcoBoost found in the Ford F-150 Raptor. Currently, 2.7-liter EcoBoost F-150 trucks come standard with the technology. Given the increasing EcoBoost demand, Auto Start-Stop could represent more than 60 percent of the truck lineup – giving F-150 the highest number of Ford nameplates offering the technology standard.

The following Ford vehicles are also available with Auto Start-Stop:

Focus 1.0-liter EcoBoost
Fusion 1.5-liter EcoBoost
Edge 2.0-liter twin-scroll EcoBoost
2017 Escape 1.5-liter EcoBoost, 2.0-liter twin-scroll EcoBoost
