Infiniti Teases New JX Crossover, “Power of 7” Campaign

In the seven-seat luxury crossover segment, there are a few offerings; the Audi Q7, Acura MDX, Lincoln MKT and, while an SUV, the Mercedes-Benz GL competes for those buyers. A few in those list are only seven-seat (like the MDX) at a squeeze too, primarily for children in the back. Infiniti has yet to introduce a crossover for this segment.

That will change next year when the 2013 JX goes on sale. To promote the JX, Infiniti is launching a new social media campaign called the “Power of 7” on Facebook. Automakers are increasingly turning to social media for vehicle launches. Who can forget Ford’s constant drip drop of sneak peaks and information regarding the Explorer?

The campaign is all about the number seven: introducing the first teaser image today on July 7th at 7:07 AM. For now on over the next seven weeks, every Thursday the company will release a new teaser image of the car.

The image shows the car’s front headlight and some of the side design. It follows similar design themes to what we’ve seen from Infiniti recently, and that is a good thing; it should be a sculpted design that is different from the norm in the segment.

Infiniti intends its offering to stand out because of that. “Families don’t have many luxury vehicle options today. The new Infiniti JX will be the 7-passenger antidote to the ho-hum luxury crossovers that are out there right now,” says Ben Poore, vice president of Infiniti Americas. The JX will get its full reveal at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance show on August 18th.
