Volkswagen Chattanooga Rolls 500,000th Passat

VW 500K PassatVolkswagen’s Chattanooga assembly recently landed a production milestone when the 500,000th Passat rolled from the line.

Employees took a break to celebrate the accomplishment.

The Candy White Limited Edition Passat featured black interior, keyless access with push button start, a rear-view camera, heated seats, premium radio, and 17 inch alloy Sonoma wheels.

Powered by a 170 horsepower turbo engine, the 500,000th Passat represents Volkswagen’s ongoing commitment to both vehicles and customers.

“Our Passat has raised the bar on what Americans can expect from a mid-size sedan and the 500,000th car was built with the same passion for detail as the first,” ~ Christian Koch, President and CEO of Volkswagen Chattanooga.

Volkswagen Chattanooga is undergoing a 900 million dollar expansion to add a second model line.

The completion will create an additional 2,000 jobs.

Currently, the plant covers 1,400 acres, employs 3,200 direct personnel, with an additional 9,500 indirect supplier employees. Volkswagen Chattanooga also provides paid time off for staff who wish to volunteer in the community.

Volkswagen Chattanooga is the only automotive plant presently to meet LEED certification.

“I’m proud of our team and excited about new products on the horizon in this factory,” ~ Christian Koch
