Hey, remember that cool Hot Wheels Camaro Concept Chevy showed us last year at SEMA? Chevy just announced today that for SEMA 2012 they’re actually going to make it!
Well, sort of.
You won’t get that cool chrome green “Spectraflame” paint job shown on the concept, or the aggressive looking hood vent extractors, but what you will get is a special Kinetic Blue exterior color matched with flame graphics on the fenders, two-tone matte hood graphic, rear taillight panel blackout, a subtle ground effects package, a rear spoiler and front grille from the Camaro ZL1, black/silver 21-inch wheels with a red outline, and “Hot Wheels” badges on the grille and decklid.
Inside, you’ll get a black leather trimmed interior with red stitching, along with Hot Wheels logos on the front seats, doors, and sill plates.
The Hot Wheels package can be had on the coupe and drop-top models, but only in the 2LT (V6) and 2SS (V8) trim levels (the top trims for each engine.)
And that’s basically it. So yes, it’s an appearance package only, much like the Transformers Camaro, and not really a special edition car. Despite that, the press release is saying they’ll only be produced in the first quarter of 2013, and “when they’re gone, they’re gone.” We can assume it means there will be a limited production of the package, but it doesn’t mention how many will be made, or how much it costs.
Chevy…?
Regardless, it would be pretty cool to roll around in an official Hot Wheels car. Now to find someone willing to paint their racetrack orange…
