Quick Lane Tire & Auto Center recently unveiled Trading One Uniform For Another in collaboration with Disabled American Veterans (DAV). The program will award scholarships to U.S. military veterans towards a certification in automotive repair.
The scholarships total $10,000 each and will be awarded to five veterans. Through this month, everyone is welcome to nominate a veteran by composing a brief essay on why that veteran is deserving of the scholarship.
Ten nominees will be selected, five of which will receive a $10,000 award. The scholarship can be used for tuition, books, and study materials at a college, university, or trade school in the U.S. with accredited courses in automotive mechanics.
This November, which is Military Appreciation Month, Quick Lane and DAV will announce the finalists at QLtradingone.com and open a round of voting. The final five nominees will receive their scholarships at this year’s Quick Lane Bowl at Ford Field in downtown Detroit.
