Saab Automobile was a Swedish manufacturing company founded in 1945. In 1949, the company produced its first automobile, the Saab 92, launching them into the automotive industry. Saab’s best-selling vehicle came in 1978 with the Saab 900.
At the end of the 20th century, General Motors bought a 50 percent stake in Saab and then later took over the ownership of the company. Without being able to re-establish the glory days of the Saab 900, the company eventually went bankrupt.
