Alfa Romeo
Founded in 1910, A.L.F.A. (Anonymous Lombard Automobile Factory) is an Italian luxury sports car manufacturer. Shortly after its formation, A.L.F.A. came under the control of entrepreneur Nicola Romeo who added his name to the company, thus forming Alfa Romeo.
Alfa Romeo has competed successfully in racing for decades, winning titles like the 1925 inaugural world championship for Grand Prix cars. Alfa Romeo also holds the first two F1 championships (1950 & 51), along with 11 Mille Miglia and 10 Targa Florio titles. Today, the official F1 team is known as Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN, based in Hinwil, Switzerland.
In 1986, Fiat acquired Alfa Romeo. Today, models like the 4C, Giulia, and Stelvio are sold in the U.S. under Fiat Chrysler Automobiles.
