Koenigsegg One:1

The Koenigsegg One:1 Eats Bugattis for Breakfast

This, folks, could be the next fastest production car in the world.

The Swedish hypercar maker Koenigsegg claims that their newest iteration of the Agera, the Agera One:1 can not only beat the Bugatti Veyron Supersport’s top speed, but get there twice as fast. That’s quite a claim to make.

The current Agera R can already outpace the 1183 HP Veyron Vitesse, but the Agera One:1 boasts a more impressive (about) 1400 hp and weighs only (about) 1400 kg – explaining the car’s name (One:1…get it?) That’s a seriously impressive power-to-weight ratio, and let’s be honest, that’s the number that really matters in a supercar.

These renders are scans from a catalog, apparently, and as rumors have it, all six of the cars have already been sold to Chinese buyers at an estimated $2 million or more, but honestly, who cares how much it costs at this level?

The Koenigsegg One:1 is the first car to ever achieve the sought-after 1:1 hp/kg power-to-weight ratio while completely topped up on fluids AND the driver (who I assume is an “average” [Chinese?] weight.)

While we’re on numbers, let’s clear up the claims.

Top speed: 280 mph. A production car best.

Zero to 62 mph: 2.6 seconds.

And the most impressive number? The Agera One:1 is said to hit zero to 249 mph in only 20 seconds. I have faith in Koenigsegg, but I’ll believe it when I see it.

Want one? Too bad. You probably don’t live in China, don’t have an extra few million dollars to throw into a car, and probably weren’t invited to buy one of the few being made.

Better luck next time.
