Kia recently unveiled details about their latest sedan, the Cadenza. This entry-level luxury sedan is based on the Hyundai Azera, and will be replacing the aged Kia Amanti. You can see from the pictures that the Cadenza is carrying over some of the design features from Kia’s newest attempts at being exciting, like the excellent Forte sedan and funky box-on-wheels Kia Soul.
The Kia Cadenza sedan features headlights with LED surrounds, much like Audi’s headlight design, and the overall design is more youthful and athletic than typical Kia. Inside, the “floating” dashboard design hints at the same styling, with a “mood lighting strip” running from the dashboard to the door trim.
New features for Kia include power extendable seat cushions for thigh support (good for tall guys like me,) automatic windshield defogging, heated steering wheel, and ventilated (cooled) front seats – all features normally found in high-end luxury sedans.
Kia, along with its sister company Hyundai have been sort of reinventing themselves lately, with surprisingly good cars and high value. The Hyundai Genesis sedan, for example, shocked us with how much car you get for the money, and Kia’s Forte sedan is actually a good choice among compact to mid-size sedans, while the Forte Koup is a real contender to the two-door Honda Civic.
Hopefully the Kia Cadenza surprises us in the same way.
