Coachbuilding is an old automotive art that has seen a resurgence thanks to modern technology and processes. We’ve seen companies like Zagato, Pininfarina and Touring Superleggera work to produce new models, sometimes with assistance from the original manufacturer.

There is a lot of efforts that don’t have the backing of the original manufacturer as well. A new effort hailing from Germany is Endora Cars. Their new model, the SC-1 is based heavily on the Chevrolet Corvette, a favorite for coachbuilding manufacturers.

The car uses an amalgamation of different design cues, with a design that helps to transform the car’s appearance. The look is smooth and slippery, and includes an all-new front grille, rear clip and a distinctive feature – side skirts that cover the rear tires.

It certainly isn’t a design style you would expect to come out of Germany. Somehow the design manages to evoke an old-style Americana. We aren’t quite sure what to think just yet.

Besides the styling tweaks, underneath the skin the SC-1 is still every bit a Chevrolet Corvette. That means powertrains from that car carryover, and include the Corvette’s 6.3-liter LS3 V8 (437 horsepower) 7.0-liter LS7 V8 (512 hp) from the Z06 along with the supercharged making 647 hp. For now, the SC-1 is just a concept, but Endora has plans to produce the car if it generates enough interest.

As far as price? Carscoop had a Question and Answer session with Björn Marek, Endora Cars spokesman, and he said it would come in at around €130,000 euros (around $185,000 USD at the current exchange rates). Ouch.
