Seriously, this crowd-funding thing is awesome. Before now, anybody wanting to start a business or project would need a crapload of their own money or funded by seed capital. It’s not that way anymore, and Sabrina Chun from San Francisco is a perfect example of this.
Sabrina started a campaign on the popular crowdfunding website Kickstarter.com only two days ago called Blackprint Designs. She chose eight cars that she felt has a significance in history and pop culture and turned them in minimalist designs in inverse black and white, which give a unique look to iconic cars we’re all familiar with, putting them into a new light.
The project was started only two days ago on 02 April, 2013, and to get funded for the project to continue, Sabrina needed to raise $5,000. There are various levels that anyone can contribute, and most of them involve getting your choice of various sizes of the art itself, at a reduced pre-order cost. At the time of this writing, the Blackprints project has $36,341 with 590 people backing it. Perhaps instead of worrying about whether the project would be funded, she’s worried more about whether or not she can fulfill so many requests!

All prints are on eco-friendly 80lb card stock with a matte finish using recycled paper and soybean-based ink. Now to decide which one to get. I’m especially loving the Countach, Cobra, and GT500, but I don’t know if I could pass up the Ghostbuster’s Ecto-1.

Sabrina hasn’t specified whether or not she’d be doing more designs of other cars, but at this rate of success, I don’t see why she wouldn’t.
