Looks like someone’s been up to some tomfoolery! Or maybe it was just a mistake.
Either way, the G-Drive Racing by Delta ADR team is pretty upset today as word came through that their No. 26 Oreca-Nissan car driven by Roman Rusinov, John Martin and Mike Conway, has been disqualified from the 2013 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Apparently the capacity of its petrol tank was too high, allowing it to go further without having to refuel. And I’m sure the other teams didn’t like that very much. Details on the infringement or how over capacity the tank was haven’t been released.
They managed to pick up third place in the LMP2 class in the end and did very well throughout the whole race, finishing 9th overall.
And now…zilch.
So who benefits from this?
The number 42 Zytek Z11SN Nissan driven by Jann Mardenborough, Lucas Ordonez and Michael Krumm from Greaves Motorsport, mainly. They pick up third place now, and are probably pretty happy about the whole thing.
But the G-Drive Racing by Delta ADR team isn’t having it – their plan, and it should come to no surprise, is to contest the judgement and see what they can do about snagging 3rd place back.
Oh, don’t you just love drama on the race track!?
