Beware the Cat-Burglars!

Car owners have another thing to fear of being taken from their precious vehicles. It turns out that the new hot item for crooks is stealing your car’s catalytic converter and selling it. The price, anywhere from $10 to $100 and sometimes more. Now you must be asking yourself, “What’s so great about my catalytic converter?” Well, it turns out that unbeknownst to most car owners, the catalytic converter contains precious metals such as palladium, platinum, and rhodium.

If you drive a compact car like the Honda Fit, then you don’t really need to worry. It seems that most of the thieves are targeting SUVs and pickup trucks since they are much easier to get under. Also, it turns out that they are using cruel methods of removing the catalytic converter. Much like a scene in the military field hospital of the civil war, the catalytic converters are being sawed off.

It’s just another hassle that auto owners have to deal with, and, unfortunately, one has to worry about such frivolous things. With that being said, make sure you look for a catalytic converter anti-theft device like the CatClamp – they’re not cheap, but they’re cheaper than a new cat!
