Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Coming In Limited Quantity

Car News

Last month, at the Concorso d’ Eleganza Villa d’ Este at Lake Como, Italy, Aston Martin debuted the drop dead gorgeous Vanquish Zagato concept.

What’s New

Aston Martin confirmed it will build the Vanquish Zagato in a very limited quantity. How “limited” does limited quantity mean? Well, only 99 will be built and all of them have been spoken for.

Compared to the concept, not much has changed on the production model. The sleek bodywork is entirely crafted of carbon fiber, for example. The Zagato also features a set of quad-exhaust tips and a bulging “double-bubble roof,” a trademark of Zagato models since the early 1950s.

Interior

Inside, the cabin features a mixture of herringbone carbon fiber with bronze and aniline leather accents. The seats and door panes feature a “Z” quilted stitching pattern, which adds some flavor to the interior.

Performance

When mechanically compared to the standard Vanquish, the Vanquish Zagato features a unique suspension setup and a more powerful 6.0 L V12 engine. U.S. bound Vanquish Zagato models will be powered by the same 583 horsepower V12 found in the regular Vanquish. In rest of the world, the Vanquish Zagato will be powered by a 600 horsepower version of the V12.

Aston Martin claims the Vanquish Zagato will sprint to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds, a tenth quicker than the regular Vanquish.

Exclusivity

All 99 will be built at Aston Martin’s Gaydon production facility in the United Kingdom. Although, we secretly hope, and would not be upset, if a few more were produced.

Previous collaborations between Aston Martin and Zagato have resulted in the 1960 DB4 Zagato racecar, 1986 Vantage Zagato, 2002 DB7 Vantage Zagato, and most recently, the 2011 V12 Vantage Zagato.

Availability

Customers can expect to receive their bespoke Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato as early as the first quarter of 2017.

  1. The roof features the iconic ‘double-bubble’, its shallow radius dipping into the rear window glass to give the car an unmistakeable rear silhouette. A Zagato trademark since the early 1950s, originally arose from the need to accommodate racing helmets with a minimum impact on the aerodynamic profile. To match the bold new exterior, the concepts normally aspirated V12 engine has been uprated to 600 PS, along with enhanced driving dynamics.
