In BMW’s never-ending quest to create a smorgasbord of special edition M3 Coupes, they just released another – the 2013 BMW M3 Coupe Lime Rock Park Edition. Not that I’m complaining – while I do prefer the lighter, nimbler M3s of yore, I really like the newest generation’s combination of luxury and sporting from its excellent 420 hp V8 engine.
The special editions typically don’t provide any improvement on the powertrains, sadly, but do give enthusiasts something a bit different to make themselves feel a little bit more special.
The 2013 Lime Rock Park Edition, made in collaboration with (big surprise here) the Lime Rock Park motorsport track, is limited to only 200 models, of which your specific number is emblazoned on the center console, along with a special decal and certificate.
Outside, you’ll immediately notice the special Fire Orange paint job, which is cool if you like fiery orange paint jobs, and some slight modifications to the front and rear aero parts with the help of some always-welcome carbon fiber. That’s pretty nice, actually, since all the available paint on the regular M3 is kind of boring. A lightweight titanium exhaust rounds out the exterior changes and probably adds some needed growl to the M3’s V8.
Inside, you get Anthracite (dark gray) and Black cloth seating with Nappa leather trim, along with an Anthracite Alcantara-covered, flat-bottom steering wheel. Nothing you can’t get in any other M3 coupe, of course, but at least now you don’t have a choice. Plus, yours will have that numbered plaque on the center console and certificate in the glove box. Adding some matching orange stitching or something would have given it a bit of extra “special edition” flair.
The only other addition to the M3 Coupe Lime Rock Park Edition is that they’ve fitted it with the Competition package – a $2,500 option on any other M3 Coupe, adding Dynamic Stability and Damper Control (comfort, normal, and sport modes,) 19-inch Y-spoke alloy wheels, and a 10mm lowered suspension.
