edo competition (all lower case) decided that what the Lamborghini’s Gallardo LP600/4 needed was more. Yes, I know, to some people out there, the Gallardo LP600/4 already has more than enough, but to the people at edo competition felt that more was needed. Or as they put it “A little more unique? A little sportier? edo competition presents the LP600/4 with added spice.”
Right off the top, edo starts with the numbers, or at least the numbers that are going to really count: 600, 340, and 3.5 As in edo competition Gallardo LP600/4 puts out 600 horses, will hit 340 clicks at the top end and will take 3.5 seconds to go from zero to 100 km/h from a standstill. And if you really want to dig into the engine figures, they work out to 600 horsepower at 7,970 rpm and 572 Nm of torque (422 ft-lb) at 6,845 rpm.
Impressive, no?
Naturally, edo didn’t just bulk up the engine and roll it out the shop door, oh no. They had a go at the chassis and did some upgrades to the suspension to increase the drivability, precision and driving dynamics. edo developed a new sport suspension system, featuring shocks that are adjustable in compression and rebound damping. This chassis upgrade allows for a number of custom suspension setups that can be matched to a wide range of customer needs. The shocks are new low friction shock units and edo has also reworked the new spring rates. All of the chassis work was tested on racetracks and high-speed ovals, as well as on the road.
Naturally, the wheels and tires aren’t stock either. In the case of the edo competition Gallardo LP600/4, the wheels are 19 inch three-piece racing numbers cast center-sections that have been “artificially-aged” and hand-polished outer rims with 39 stainless steel screws. The aftermarket skins are 235/35 ZR 19 up front and 305/30 ZR 19 Dunlop Sport Maxx rubber out the back.
Of course, they modded the exhaust system too. It’s stainless steel with a butterfly valve system that adjusts the sound level via remote, but it also frees up 15 more horsepower and tips the scales at 12 kg (26 lb) less than the original piece.
And as the final cherry on top, edo competition added a new front spoiler lip, ” … making 340 km/h (211 mph) runs into a relaxing affair.”
