The Lamborghini Reventon hit with a considerable splash when in debuted in 2007. Once the show goers from the ’07 Frankfurt show caught their collective breath, the next thing on their minds was ‘when do we get the convertible version’? The answer is now. Just rolled out at the 09 Frankfurt show comes the latest, and perhaps wildest, ride from Sant’Agata Bolognese.

The whole point about the Reventon Roadster is the engine and what it can do. What it does is this: The 6.5 liter twelve-cylinder cranks out a staggering 670 PS which is good enough to send this ride down the road from 0 to 62 mph in 3.4 seconds and will allow the Reventon Roadster to top out at 205 mph.

President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini Stephan Winkelmann had this to say about his company’s new ride: “The Reventon is the most extreme car in the history of the brand. The new Roadster adds an extra emotional component to our combined technological expertise – it unites superior performance with the sensual fascination of open-top driving.”

As with all Lambos, the Reventon Roadster isn’t all that light, tipping the scales at 3,725 lbs., but that’s just 55 lbs. more than the original Coupe.

And also like it’s coupe predecessor, the Reventon Roadster only comes in grey paintwork (that to me looks like primer). Lambo says the finish “completes the razor sharp design language of the Lamborghini Reventon Roadster” and yeah, I guess it works that way. And the overall look of the Reventon, either coupe or roadster, bears more than a passing resemblance to Christian Bale’s ride as The Dark Knight.

Lamborghini says the Reventon Roadster’s grey ” … is a slightly different shade of grey, this is a matte paint finish that, in the sunlight, displays an unexpected impression of depth thanks to its special metal particles.” So I guess that makes it metal-flake grey … and that also makes that Husker Du album title less of a joke now.

Interested? Wealthy? Then get in line. Only 20 Lamborghini Reventons will roll out of the factory, and the cash register will ring you out for 1.1 Million Euro (not including taxes). Do all that, and the car should be in your hands by October 2009.
