Ultima GTR Wipes the Floor with the Ferrari FXX

Ultima GTR

On the last season of Top Gear, F1 Champ Michael Schumacher took the top of the list on the Top Gear lap times, completing the track with his personal Ferrari FXX in 1 minute, 10.7 seconds - nearly seven seconds faster than the next fastest car (Gumpert Apollo,) which is an incredible feat. British supercar maker Ultima was less than impressed, however, and bet their track-tuned (and street legal) GTR720 could beat the track-only FXX around the track.

Ultima claims that Top Gear producers have refused to allow them to test the Ultima GTR on the track, however, and had to take it upon themselves to rent some track time from McLaren to do their tests… Continue Reading…

Honda Civic Type R Euro Hot Hatch For Japanese Market

JDM-Honda-Civic-Type-R-Euro-0.jpg

OK all you Civic fan boys with large checkbooks and connections to the home market, get your browsers ready, because there’s going to be a whole lot of JDM parts for you to order up. At this year’s Tokyo Motor Show, Honda rolled out a JDM only version of the Civic officially called Civic Type R Euro. But right off the top, let me just say that I’ve always been a little bit puzzled by Honda’s making JDM specific and Euro-market specific and North American market specific versions of these cars (or any other ride that’s sold in all three markets).

CRZ.jpg

The Honda CR-Z might just turn out to be the darling of this year’s Tokyo Motor Show (apart from the Lexus LF-A, that is). Sort of a spiritual successor to the CRX of years past, the CR-Z promises to be light (enough), and sporty (enough) that gearheads will probably take to it quite well. Add to it the fact that the CR-Z sports a hybrid drivetrain, and Honda’s little ride could be the harbinger of cleaner, greener, affordable sports cars of the future.

Now comes word that Mugen, Honda’s semi-in-house tuning firms is eyeing the CR-Z as a model that might just get the factory tuner treatment.

2011 Nissan GT-R Upgraded

2011-Nissan-GT-R-SpecV-0001.jpg

Ah, the Nissan GT-R, much beloved by the … well, pretty much everybody but cops and insurance agents I’d guess. To hear some guys tell it, the Nissan GT-R is about as perfect as a car can get; fast, techy and with a road presence just this side of a honest-to-God Transformer, the Nissan GT-R pushes all the buttons that a young man has to be pushed that can’t be accessed by cute girls.

What’s not to love? Well, according to Nissan, there are a few things here and there that could stand to be tweaked on the GT-R. So, being the conscious Japanese car company that they are, Nissan went ahead and did some tweaking.
