Cool Mustang Billboards

Ford came out with some really cool billboards for the Mustang. The first time I saw this, I assumed the pictures were just taken at the right angle, and wouldn’t look right from any other angle. Turns out the billboards are made from a semi-transparent Lexan. That way no matter what time of day, season, or weather, it blurs the background to convey a sense of speed. Cool, isn’t it?

Mustang MySpace Layouts

I’m not a big fan of MySpace. It’s coded terribly, breaks all the time, and every other persons page is loaded with ridiculous graphics, flashing lights, loud crappy music that plays without you asking it to, and giant ugly sparkling glitter letters. But it does have its good side. When someone visits your page, you want it to convey your personality like a personal home page would. Most of the MySpace pages out there do that, but in a very bad, distracting, and seizure-inducing way.

If you’re a Mustang fan, you’re in luck. Get rid of the big flashing “Mustang Lover” graphic and get one of the nicely designed Mustang Myspace Layouts created by one of my sponsors, American Muscle. Keep reading for more info and pictures: Continue Reading…

Saleen Special-Edition Mustangs Confirmed to be Bad-Ass

Saleen Mustang Special Edition

I’ve been a pretty big fan of the Saleen Mustangs for a while now, but the 2005-current versions have been anything but exciting, until now. There will only be 25 of these made total. The 25th will be given to the winner of the Great American Run, and the other 24 will be sold only to participants of the Cannonball World event. 11 have already been sold.

“Surprising” specifications are an understatement here. With 600 horsepower, this Mustang can do 0-60 in under four seconds, and has a top speed of 200mph! Whether or not a Mustang can handle the 600 horsepower is a different question. I can’t wait to see the final specs on this beast; they’re bound to be very impressive. Plus it’s really sexy looking. I don’t think they’ll have a problem selling all of these, I don’t care how much they cost. Anyway, if you want to enter the race, it’s $10,000 and there are only 400 spots available. Better hurry!

Giugiaro Mustang Concept

Leave it to the Italians to make the sexiest, most elegant Mustang to date. The Giugiaro Mustang concept was spotted by a reader of MustangForums in Italy a couple of weeks ago, and he was lucky enough to get in a picture before the driver chased him down. Recently though, many more concept pictures have become available, as well as a more in-depth description of the car.

Mustang Giugiaro Concept

“Ford Racing improved on the already-robust 300 horsepower all-aluminum 4.6-liter 3-valve V-8 engine in the production Mustang GT by adding an intercooled twin-screw supercharger for the new concept. Additional improvements include fuel injectors from the Ford GT and a unique engine calibration. Engine air intake is increased with a larger 95 mm mass air meter and a conical air filter. Exhaust performance is enhanced with new Ford Racing mufflers and an X-pipe.”

The Only Shelby Mustang GT-H Sold for $250,000

Shelby Mustang GT-H

Out of the 500 total Shelby GT-H’s made, 499 of them were sent to be rented out by Hertz. The one that wasn’t, was sold for an astonishing $250,000 at the “Gathering of Eagles” fundraiser in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Was it worth the price? Absolutely. Think about it, this guy owns the only Shelby GT-H Mustang that will stay in good condition in the world. After these other GT-H ‘Stangs are rented out by lead-foots (how would you treat it?) over a few years they will go on sale. I guarantee every one of these Mustangs will be badly beaten by the time they are offered to the public for sale, if not destroyed. This guy will sell this collector car for more than he bought it, guaranteed.

Shelby Mustang GT350H Details

You have to pay $350 to rent this car from Hertz for one day, and you only get to drive it 100 miles. Of course you could try to save $50 and not opt for the insurance, but we both know how you’re going to drive it.

Shelby GT350H

That brings me to my next point. Hertz plans to trade these cars off to the Ford dealerships after 16,000 to 18,000 miles. Now I’m sure these are going to go for top dollar at the dealerships, but I would steer clear of them. I’m sure many are going to get the “Let’s see how hard we can run this until it blows” syndrome.

This time around though it seems Ford learned a little something. With the original GT350’s in the 70’s, some customers were known to swap out engines and even weld roll cages to the chassis. Ford now has security measures to insure this doesn’t happen again.
