Una bella machina!!!! If there were no Ferrari (perish the thought!) my allegiance would have to ride with Alfa Romeo. Back in the day when Cadillac was known as “The Standard of The World,” Alfa was known as “Il Primo Automobile Campiono del Mondo”; The First Automobile Champions Of The World. And indeed they were.

Sure, things flagged of late, but starting with the Brera (it would seem) things really turned around for the Italian marque. The 8C Competizione falls into the pretty damn stunning category, and now styling house Zagato has rolled out this: The Zagato Alfa Romeo TZ3 Corsa.

Man. And I thought Monica Bellucci was hot.

The Zagato-penned and developed Alfa Romeo TZ3 Corsa, which has been rumored for a while, was rolled out in a world premiere at this past weekend’s esteemed Villa D’Este Concours. And please be aware that this is not a show pony. Zagato pointed out, the Alfa Romeo TZ3 Corsa is not simply a design exercise, but a one off race special commissioned by German collector Martin Kapp. Herr Kapp also owns, among other Alfa Romeos, an SZ coda tonda and SZ coda tronca, TZ, and TZ2, Junior Z and S.Z. Yes, I’m envious of him too.

The Alfa Romeo TZ3 Corsa was inspired by its 1960s ancestors, the first Alfa TZ and TZ2, the TZ3 Corsa. The current iteration is based on a mono shell carbon fiber tubular chassis (whatever that might be), joined with a tubular frame and a drop dead gorgeous lightweight aluminum body. It’s proportions are just spot on perfect, and the rear has a certain Kamm tail/GTO breadvan look to it.

Power? That is delivered via a plant sourced from the Alfa 8c Competizione’s 4.2-liter V8 engine. Situated under the alloy hood of the Alfa Romeo TZ3 Corsa, said mill develops 420-horsepower. Zagato says the racing car tips the scales at a lightweight 850kg or 1,874 lbs. Combine that little weight with that much engine, and the Alfa Romeo TZ3 Corsa is capable of accelerating from zero to 100km/h (62mph) in under 3.5 seconds topping out in excess of 300km/h or 187mph. Or so says Zagato.

If you ask me, this thing looks like it’s doing 187mph standing still.

Now this is what a Bentley should look like.

What started life as a Bentley GT Speed has been taken and transformed by Zagato into something that has the style and presence to contend with the scion of the best luxury automobiles.

The Bentley, now named the GTZ Zagato, features extensive but subtle bodywork from the famed and legendary design house of Zagato Atelier, and was revealed to the world at the 2008 Geneva Auto Show.

The most obvious changes are the redesigned grill, hood, and overall front, and the paint. Especially the paint, as this car looks even more expensive and luxurious with its mute but metallic two-tone coat of dark green and gray. The back has also been redesigned, with a longer deck and exotic-looking slim, gray tail lights. And, of course, which Zagato creation would be complete without the trademark double-bubble roof?

As for the interior, from what I gather, it is even more scrumptious than the GT Speed’s, with a Zagato designed interior redolent with leather, wood, and other exotic materials.

I’d like to give you some performance info, but I can’t, as there is none on this car. The best I can do is give you some estimates. If the GTZ Zagato keeps the technical and engineering aspects of the GT Speed, that means it will have a 6 liter W12 behemoth that produces 600 horses and 553 pound-feet torque, along with a 0-60 time of 4.3 seconds. Now, since Zagato usually tweaks the performance in their creations, expect a slightly better stats for all of the above, including a 200+ mph top speed.

As for availability, no info on that either, but if you look at the Spyker C12 Zagato, whose price and exclusivity will probably mirror the GTZ Zagato’s, you end up with a very expensive, very rare beauty.

Why does Geneva get all the coolest cars? Check out the Spyker C12 Zagato that was recently unveiled at this years Geneva Auto Show. It will be produced in very limited numbers (only 24 will be made,) and it will set you back $648,000. Small price to pay for such exclusivity.

While not exactly beautiful, it certainly has a cool factor. The C12 Zagato carries a 6.0L W12 engine sourced from Volkswagen, and puts out 500 horsepower pushing the light 3,086 lb car from 0-60 in a mere 3.8 seconds. A supercharger can be added to give the rocket 650 horsepower. You’ll be able to pick yours up in March 2008.
