Geiger GTS - A Corvette ZR1 on Steroids

Geiger GTS Corvette ZR1

GeigerCars, a German tuning company that focuses on American sports cars, brought over the 638 horsepower Corvette ZR1 and gave it some German engineering. The result? A 710 hp monster they call the “Geiger GTS.”

Specifying little more than “diverse tuning measures” in the press release, we don’t quite know exactly what Geiger did to the ZR1, but one can assume it has a tuned ECU, higher boosted supercharger, and a modified exhaust, at the very least. The significant increase in power helps the Geiger GTS go from 0-62 mph in only 3.6 seconds, and hit an incredible top speed of 212 mph. Continue Reading…

BRABUS SV12 R 750 hp, 995 lb-ft & 211 mph

b09aa296.jpg

Here’s some more heavy German iron set to roll out at the upcoming Frankfurt show: The BRABUS SV12 R. Brabus calls it “The Fastest and Most Powerful Office on Wheels in the World” and with 750 hp, 995 lb-ft of torque on tap and a terminal velocity of 211 mph, I’m not going to start arguing with them.

Essentially the German tuning firm took a Mercedes-Benz S 600 and threw their catalogue at it … and their engineers, aerodynamicists and stylists for that matter and came up with what the well-healed German businessman should be using to get from Frankfurt to Cologne faster than their Gulfstream jet.

Novitec Rosso Ferrari 599 GTB

NOVITEC ROSSO F59W Pic01.jpg

The tuning firm Novitec Rosso just can’t keep their hands off of various Ferraris. In this case, we’re talking about the Ferrari 599 GTB, a very potent car to begin with. There’s always more power and performance to be gleaned from any given car, even one as good as a Ferrari 599, so what does Novitec Rosso have up their sleeve?

They summed it up this way: An Extra 40 hp, Striking Design and Exclusive Accessories.

OK, no probs there really. The world being what it is, they’re probably hitting three of their target markets main areas of focus: Performance, aftermarket appearance “upgrades” and nick-knacks.

200HP Fiat 500 Abarth

Fiat-Abarth-500-3

Hey, since we’re talking about German tuners (or at least we were yesterday), check out this Fiat 500 Abarth cranking out 200HP. Now, I’m not one to advocate huge horsepower numbers from tiny little cars to others … but it always worked for me!

Manhart Racing BMW Z4 M V10

01_Z4-V10-Manhart-Racing.jpg

“These crazy bastards dropped a V10 into the Z4. Nice.” That’s what head Automoblog dude Christopher said to me in an email moments ago. Yeah, nice AND crazy all at the same time. Our kind of people these folks from Manhart. I (and I’m assuming Chris) love people that do things like this; V12s into Miatas, mid-engine Mini Cooper conversions, that sort of thing.

Of course, putting an aircraft engine in a 50s vintage car is one thing, doing an engine swap in a modern car, with all the electronics and whatnot, is a bigger deal.

GeigerCars Chevy Camaro SS Compressor

Geiger Chevy Camaro SS Compressor

In general, American tuning companies stick to American cars (Saleen, Callaway,) Europeans stick to European cars (Hamann, Novitec, Edo,) and Asians stick to Asian cars (HKS, Strosek.)

GeigerCars, however, is a German tuning company that modifies mostly American cars. Once they’re out of the Geiger showroom, there is an obvious German touch to the project. The 2010 Geiger Chevy Camaro SS Compressor is no different. The tuners took a new Camaro SS and added their own touch…what have they come up with? Continue Reading…
