What can be better than the performance and power of a Ferrari 458 Italia, How about the performance and power of a stylishly-tuned Ferrari 458 Italia? Laupheim, Germany based HAMANN Motorsport is working some aftermarket magic on the Italian supercar adding some identity to an already niche car. Available in 21 inch aluminum alloy wheels from HAMANN Motorsport, the Design Unique Forged “Anodized” and the Design Edition Race “Anodized” each proceeds to make the rare Italian supercar a more exemplary piece.

Featuring a unobstructed matte black finish, the Design Unique Forged wheel offers a basic but racer chic look. For a flashier appearance, HAMANN Motorsport’s second set for the Ferrari 458 Italia adds a polised flange and titanium screw. Called the Design Edition Race, these 21 inch alloy wheels frame the spoke pattern as an outset colour to the tires. While both wheels will require the Ferrari 458 Italia owner to fork out more money to upgrade tires from the Ferrari factory’s 20 inch wheels, the HAMANN Motorsport wheel sets include tire pressure RDK sensors and lockable nuts to assure a easy bolt-on application.

Produced as high-grade, one-piece forged wheels, HAMANN Motorsport has crafted both designs of lightweight aluminum alloy wheels which are not only stylish but lightweight. The 21 inch aluminum alloy wheels are also durable enough to handle the Ferrari 458 Italia’s over 200 mile per hour top speed. The matte black finish is actually a treatment using anodizing where the aluminum alloy would be dyed into the forged wheel. Creating a finish which can chip, the wheels are engineered a long lifespan.

First exercising their wares on BMWs, HAMANN Motorsport has long expanded their custom business to include the Porsche, Lamborghini, and even the Fiat 500. Beyond producing a variety of wheels, HAMANN Motorsport are acclaimed for creating are special performance-tuned examples for some of the hottest German and British vehicles. Adding body kits, performance exhaust systems as well as interior upgrades with carbon fiber and aluminum trim, some extensively modified cars. Some examples of HAMANN Motorsport work includes the BMW M3 E92 Coupe and the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano. As yet, only wheels and some HAMANN accent badges are attached to the 458 Italia for, at least, the time being.

BMW made the X6, a crossover SUV like thing, and then they gave it the M (i.e. hot rod) treatment. So what would happen if a German tuning (i.e. hot rodding) firm were to give it even more stick? Say hello to the HAMANN TYCOON EVO M.

The short answer is 670 hp and a top end of 300 km/h.

Yeah, pretty impressive to be sure, but let’s get into the nitty gritty details.

There are the front and the rear fender extensions made of light composite materials. And the body has been widened by 60 millimeters overall. There are also newly designed side skirts. And up front there are four LED daytime running lights. There are also enlarged air inlets in the front and the carbon fiber hood that has been optimized for air ventilation of the engine compartment. Out the back, HAMANN (all caps, thanks for shouting) also replaces the original skirt. Also hanging off the back are rear- and roof spoilers. And there are centrally positioned double end pipes from the sports exhaust system which HAMANN describes as “earthy sounding”.

Anyway, back to the engine. In addition to the “earthy sounding” exhaust, which is stainless steel with metal catalysts, HAMANN also reprogrammed the ECU map for the serial motronic computer that suspends the speed limit of 250 km/h and allows, a-HEM, “.. unrestrained driving pleasures.” Tell that to the judge.

So, you get that 670 hp at 6,000 r.p.m. and 780 Nm torque at a nice and broad 1,500 – 5,650 r.p.m. This is a 115 hp and 100 Nm more than the production car. 0 to 100 (I’m assuming that’s klicks) in only 4,2 seconds and reaches a maximum speed of 300 km/h.

HAMANN also adds a lowering kit: Progressively coiled springs at the front axle and a modification kit for the rear axle that lowers the centre of gravity of the Sports Utility Vehicle by approx. 40 millimeters. Wheels? Of course. HAMANN offers 23-inch wheels that are 11.0 x 23 at the front- and 12.0 x 23 at the rear axle, combined with tires measuring 315/25 R 23.

And on the inside HAMANN offers accessories made of black-anodized aluminum and carbon fiber. Special pedals and foot rest are to be had that “render motor sports air”. Er, sure. There’s also a three-spoke sports steering wheel and a boot mat with diamond-shaped decorations and an embroidered logo.

HAMANN, a German tuner long associated with BMW and all things efficient, Teutonic and powerful (although they never say why their name is in all caps like that), has just released the details on their latest working over of BMW’s 7 series flagship. HAMANN calls it ” Individualisation on the highest level”, but if you want it shortened to just three words it would be “Power. Power. Power.”

OK, for all you pendants out there that are getting ready to screed in about “Individualisation on the highest level”, yeah, I know it’s not Individualisation, it’s Individualization. That’s the way HAMANN spells it, and I was quoting direct, so go buy a flight to Laupheim Germany and bug them, not me.

OK, that said, what’s up with HAMANN’s new 7?

The short list includes such goodies as stainless steel exhaust systems with a “sporty and earthy sound”, aerodynamic bodywork that reduces lift, and light alloy rims from 19 to 22 inches. On the inside there’s lots of leather and floor-mats in matching colors as well as non-slip aluminum pedals.

There are LED daytime running lights which are integrated in the new front skirt, which the company says, “render a sporty-dynamic look and increase the passive safety.” And by ” passive safety” I figure they mean the aero work keeps this beast o the ground at Autobahn speeds (sure, that counts as safety to me). There’s also a roof spoiler and the rear spoiler that also cut lift and gives ” the upper class limousine a new, attractive overall appearance. ” Yeah, that’s what they think, but to me it looks like dad’s car was taken over by the boy-racers and given the Vin Diesel treatment.

There’s also side skirts with an available rear shield insert for the side skirt of the model 730d and 740i allows fitting the four-pipe muffler with four round stainless steel end pipes clocking in at 90 millimeters in diameter that produce that “powerful, earthy sound” (which is just an hilarious way to mention it … what are they talking about, sounds like a review of a 70s jazz fusion concert).

HAMANN goes over the chassis. There’s four progressively coiled springs which lower the center of gravity by 40 millimeters at the front and rear axles, and HAMANN also says that it gives the 7 a “dynamic appearance. ” There’s also a lowering kit for the 750i and 750Li.

And they also do some cool stuff with the diesel version of the 7. Variable turbine geometrics are already in the works that will increase the oil burners power output by 45 HP up to 245 hp.

The HAMANN refining programme for the new BMW 7-series

Individualisation on the highest level – this is the motto under which HAMANN presents its refining programme for the new BMW 7-series of the model range F01 and F02. Already since 1986, the Laupheim-based company develops and produces products for the individualisation of BMW automobiles. Thereby, the HAMANN technicians profit from hundreds of successful motor sports participations. The competence which was gained there is the basis for the development of new HAMANN products and renders the highest level for product quality and processing. The result: stainless steel exhaust systems with a sporty and earthy sound, aerodynamics components reducing the lifting forces and striking light alloy rims from 19 to 22 inches. Interiors perfectly fitted with leather and combined with floor-mats in matching colours as well as non-slip aluminium pedals extend the accessory range.

Already when establishing the design, HAMANN perfectly adjusts the individual components of the aerodynamic pack. The result is an exciting styling with an optimised air flow across the car silhouette. LED daytime running lights which are integrated in the new front skirt, render a sporty-dynamic look and increase the passive safety. Simultaneously, in combination with the roof spoiler and the rear spoiler, the lifting forces are reduced and give the upper class limousine a new, attractive overall appearance. The visual connection between the front and rear part are the HAMANN side skirts which are available for the model series F01. The optionally available rear shield insert for the side skirt of the model 730d and 740i allows fitting the four-pipe sport end muffler. Four round stainless steel end pipes with a diameter of 90 millimetres perfectly enhance the rear part of the 7-series BMW and produce a powerful, earthy sound.

A performance enhancement for the Diesel engine with variable turbine geometrics is already under construction. By this first tuning stage the serial measure of the 730d (180 kW / 245 hp) increases by approximately 33 kW/45 hp.

A technical highlight of the offered tuning programme is the one-piece HAMANN-aluminium wheel called DESIGN HM EVO 22 inches. A hallmark of the modern styling is the glossy black paint with the diamond-grinded rim star and the discreet deep rim well. Five elongated and over-vaulted triple spokes document visual and technical finesse. Struts inside the spokes render additional stability. Modern production processes and the use of special aluminium alloys guarantee highest bearing loads at a low weight. Here, HAMANN recommends the dimensions 9.0Jx22 inches with 265/30ZR22 tyres at the front axle and 10.5Jx22 inches with 295/25ZR22 tyres at the rear axle.

The four progressively coiled chassis springs which lower the centre of gravity with the models 730d, 740i by 40 millimetres at the front- and rear axles, render a dynamic appearance. For the models 750i and 750Li, there is a lowering kit consisting of two chassis springs and an evening kit.

In addition to the existing, serial interior equipment, HAMANN accessories made first-class aluminium, pedals and foot-rests render motor sports air and perfectly match the embroidered HAMANN floor mat set. If desired, even a complete leather equipment can be produced with expert precision.

Merc’s (oh fine, and McLaren’s, I suppose) SLR supercar is going to be phased out to pave the way for the next uber Merc car (supposedly called SLC, by the way, and it’s gonna have those gullwing doors), but being the classy guys they are, Mercedes has released a bunch of special editions, 722 S Roadster (full gallery here) and Stirling Moss among them, to phase it out in loud, obnoxious, and deliciously exotic style.

Well, the top tuner (oh that is suuch a degrading term, let’s try “aftermarket modifying”) companies are lining up to pay their respects as well, by unleashing their very own take on what the SLR McLaren could be. Hamann’s version is called the “Volcano”, and you can view the video after the jump. We’ll hit you with the specs, pics, and general info on the car in a later post.

The kit includes a new double-pipe stainless sports rear silencer and a high-flow catalytic converter. Aesthetically, the modified Murci sports a new front and rear spoiler in either fiberglass or carbon-Kevlar, and also includes a two-part rear diffuser with additional air hoses for the side air intakes, and new side skirts. Hamann also throws in a set of 20-inch alloy wheels…

Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t like color-contrasting body panels, and as great of a tuner as they are, Hamann is notorious for this. To me, it makes the car look cheap, much like the unpainted body kits running around attached to Honda Civics. I understand wanting to show off your carbon fiber pieces, but at least make the body color similar.

Just after writing about Hamann’s most recent addition to the Ferrari line (with the Black Miracle,) they release a close to identical modification to the F430 Spider, except without the matte black and florescent orange finish. This one is much more attractive with the carbon-kevlar or fiberglass aerodynamic accents, about which Hamann claims “This makes the Hamann Ferrari F430 definitely a powerful road-racing car, which causes a sensation!” Loosely translated, of course.

Included is a 48 horsepower increase, due to a high-performance exhaust system designed in-house by Hamann. Other additions worthy of noting is the suspension with adjustable height, rebound and compression; a sport braking system; and your choice of three lightweight wheels available in 19″ or 20″ versions.

I’m normally a huge fan of what Hamann does to the Ferraris it modifies, but the latest F430 Black Miracle just doesn’t get me too excited. Maybe it’s just the paint job, because I could never complain about a 50 horsepower increase from an upgraded CPU, performance headers, and a free flow catalyst and rear silencer exhaust system. I’m also a fan of the gull-wing doors, aerodynamic improvements and lightweight 20″ wheels, but the paint job (which is offered in red, yellow and orange) just makes it look like a toy.

It almost looks like when the designers were drawing the car out on the drawing board, they highlighted the parts they modified in a bright, florescent orange, thought it looked good and decided to keep it on the car, but with a choice of 3 florescent colors. I think the matte finish could look cool if it were plain black without the accents, although I don’t think Lamborghini did a great job with the matte black Gallardo Privilegio either. I know some people love it though, so if it’s your thing, feel free to tell me off in the comments.

The Gallardo, being the “Baby Brother” Lamborghini, has been lacking in the “bad-ass” factor the other Lambo’s have. Read on…

It’s been more of a tuner car than anything else. To be honest, I’ve been considering it a really high-end Audi. Not that it’s a bad thing, but the Gallardo just doesn’t compare to the previous Lamborghini’s in terms of being a beast. Although, doesn’t this kind of negate the whole point of the original Lambo doors anyway? Wasn’t it designed so that you didn’t bang the door on stuff when getting out since the doors were so long? Oh well.

This Hamann is really cool though, and it isn’t just the doors. They also added a computer chip, giving the car 550hp, and increasing the top speed to 199mph. On top of that, they added the obvious body kit with 19″ wheels in front and 20″ in the rear, and big eight-piston brakes. This only makes the millionth Gallardo variation out now.

First to be added to the list of upgrades is the modified front spoiler fitted to the stock spoiler, and a rear spoiler, both in either fiberglass or carbon-kevlar. I’m not a fan of aftermarket spoilers generally either, but again, this looks great. Coming around to the sides you will notice composite, forged wheels with a cross-spoke design called “Edition Race.� Front tires are 8.5 inches wide and the back 13; both are 20� in diameter. Stepping into the interior, the modifications include a beautiful eight-piece carbon fiber trim kit; a must have. Under the hood they left the 6.5L V12 alone, figuring the engine form the LP640 was enough, but they did add a rear sports muffler, about 4.7 inches in diameter.

Visually, it’s not a huge upgrade, but it does look good. I would have expected more performance-wise, but what can you do? Naturally, anyone spending this much cash on a car can have it customized to their hearts content, including a plethora of leather colors and multimedia combinations.
