src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">

Against the grain of a multitude of noted European tuners, GeigerCars.de actively supplies the continent with so-called “American iron“ since 1979. While European customers can purchase in their purest glory, GeigerCars.de also avails buyers the benefit of customization options extending well beyond factory preparations. Importing Cadillac, Chevrolet as well as even Jeep vehicles, unique Geiger creations have included the Hummer GT and the Corvette ZR-1 based Geiger GTS. GeigerCars.de work has also exercised their European-style tuning craft on the very American Ford Mustang. Instead of attempting to match wits with the work of Shelby, German-based GeigerCars.de has elected to gain the lead over a Shelby-modded Mustang. Termed the GT640 Golden Snake, GeigerCars.de has taken a newly minted 2011 Ford Shelby GT500 into a reimagined modern hot rod.

Upping performance from Ford’s aluminum, supercharged 5.4-liter V-8, a 2.3 liter compressor, Geiger brand stainless steel sport exhaust system and different engine mapping software allows the Shelby GT640 Golden Snake to make a more venomous bite. Measuring 640 ps (equivalent of 631 horsepower), the performance advantage over the 2011 Shelby GT500 is very noticeable with the GeigerCars.de modification. Storming from 0 to 62 miles per hour in only 3.7 seconds, GeigersCars.de GT640 Golden Snake is half a second faster than the Ford-authorized model. Top speed for the Ford Shelby GT640 Golden Snake approaches 183 miles per hour.

Altering the alphanumeric designation to reflect its power output, the GT640 Golden Snake is amusing the most relevant sequencing used on the Mustang. Originally when Carroll Shelby named the GT350, the ’350’ number was spawned due to an estimation of the distance in feet between Shelby’s home and workshop. In the use of the GT500 name, the high-performance Mustang received the designation simply because it sounded fast.

Knowing the GT640 name harps on the vehicle‘s performance, the Golden Snake name for the GeigerCars.de creation captures the aesthetic image for the tuner-styled pony car. Covering their Shelby with a dead gold paint scheme, the GT640 Golden Snake loud exterior compliments the enhanced horsepower. Contrasting the dead gold paint, the darkened appearance of carbon fiber is worn under the engine. The lightweight carbon fiber hood on the GeigerCars.de Shelby GT640 Golden Snake features sizable air scoops contributing to the breathing of the more excited supercharged eight-cylinder engine. Matt black 20-inch wheels specifically designed by Geiger borders the rims and the Michelin Pilot sport tires. Altogether, the Shelby GT640 Golden Snake rides on an H&R developed adjustable sport suspension system.

Creating their own version of the Shelby vehicle, the modified Mustang does not attempt to completely obscure the Shelby GT500 factory presentation. The Ford Shelby GT640 Golden Snake retains the chrome cobra badges and an altered version of the side stripes.

<script type="text/javascript"

The GeigerCars.de Shelby GT640 Golden Snake can be purchased for 89,000 Euros (equal to $126,588 US). The price of the GT640 Golden Snake also includes a high quality stereo and an EU navigation system.

Information and photo source: GeigerCars.de

Related posts:

GeigerCars Tunes the Mustang GT500

2010 Shelby GT500 Gets Serious

2011 Ford Shelby GT500 Features Lightweight Aluminum Engine

Automoblog.net - So it was a pleasant surprise when head gearhead Chris sent me the info on GeigerCars done up, tuned up, hopped up and hot-rodded Corvette Grand Sport.

The LS3 V8 under the hood of the Grand Sport Vette is already damn impressive, cranking out 430 hp and 575 Nm of torque. But Geigercars (actually Geigercars.de is their full name) wasn’t going to let that be. So they affixed a 2.3 liters capacity supercharger to the GM plant, and now the power rings in at 588 hp at 6,490 rpm. Torque? Ha-ha, little man. Torque is now a whopping 738 Nm at a low-low 4,030 rpm.

This results in performance figures like zero to 100 km/h in less than four seconds and a top speed of 337 km/h.

Geigercars has also added wider front and rear fenders with additional vents, to accommodate the larger brakes lifted from the sister Vette Z06. That would be the 355 mm, six-pot discs at the front axle, and 340 mm, four-pot discs at the back. The front diffuser and larger rear spoiler are also borrowed from the Corvette Z06. Sway bars, shock absorbers and springs have also been re-tooled, and the six-speed transmission has had the top two cogs re-worked. There’s also a dry sump oil system and differential cooler are on board. They relocated the battery of the Grand Sport to the rear, and Geigercars added 18 and 19 inch light alloy rims, with 275/35 and imposing 325/30 tires.

There’s also Geigercars factory-installed emblems on the front fenders, as well as special graphics applied by Geigercars.de to the fenders, bonnet and boot lid.

And here’s the technical specifications
Engine: 6.2 liter V8
Output: 588 hp at 6,490 rpm
Torque: 738 N m at 4,030 rpm
Top speed: 337 km/h
Supercharger with 2.3 liter capacity and 0.6 bar charging pressure
Transmission: Six-speed manual transmission (5th and 6th gears modified)
Light alloy wheels – 18 inch front / 19 inch rear
Tires: 275/35 ZR18 front / 325/30 ZR19 rear
Base model: EUR 66,900
Performance upgrade: EUR 16,450
Modified transmission ratio: EUR 2,800

Photos: GeigerCars

Related posts:

Corvette Grand Sport Returns

GeigerCars Chevy Camaro SS Compressor

GeigerCars Tunes the Mustang GT500

Automoblog.net - Geiger opened up the hood and left almost nothing untouched.

Inside and around the massive 5.4-liter V8 powerhouse, GeigerCars added larger throttle valves, a modified injection system, a 100 millimeter air flow meter and machined cylinder heads, and extra coolers for air intake, coolant and engine oil. Geiger also took the stock supercharger, threw it away, and attached their own 3.3-liter supercharger, boosting the power from a hefty 550 ponies to a borderline insane 800 hp. Just as impressive is the increase in torque from 510 lb-ft to 697; a big enough change to require Geiger to reinforce the transmission and shorten the final two gears.

To make sure the Mustang’s chassis doesn’t twist and turn when putting down that sort of power, they’ve also fitted the car with a special racing chassis. High-performance 6-piston brakes are housed inside new 20-inch OZ alloy wheels. A new sport exhaust was fitted, along with racing catalytic converters and a special manifold.

The top speed of this monster? 220 mph! Geiger, a German tuning firm has given the race car for the road a once over. Not that there’s anything wrong with that … although I might take issue with their choice of colors.

GeigerCars is a German tuning firm from Munich that specializes in working on American cars, rather than the traditional Porsches or BMWs or other home market offerings. This is their third big to-do car after turning out a Dodge Challenger SRT-8 and a Corvette Z06 Bi-Turbo. The bottom line on those cars, if you consider horsepower to be the bottom line (and most of us do) is 569 HP for the Dodge Challenger SRT-8 and 890 HP for the Corvette Z06 Bi-Turbo. GeigerCars calls their latest effort the “Geiger HP 790″, and they also call the color “eye-catching bright green”. Well it IS hard to miss, I’ll give them that.

Geiger squeezed the bajeebus out of the engine, and by cranking the boost up garnered a 240 HP increase from the stock 5.4 liter V8 engine allowing it to reach a peak of 790 horsepower. The Germans did this by ditching the stock 2.3 liter capacity blower and fitting a more powerful 4.0 liter compressor that is now cranked up to over 1.25 bars of boost. Geiger also fitted larger throttle valves and a sports air filter. They also up-rated the engine and gear cooling systems as well as engine electrics. The blower-enhanced V8 reaches maximum power at 6320 rpm and its maximum grunt of 863 Newton meters arrives at just 4600 revolutions.

All this work results in zero to 100km/h times of just 3.6 seconds. The Ford GT Geiger HP 790 hits the 200km/h mark 6 seconds later and reaches 300 kilometers an hour in 22.8 seconds.

Geiger has also specially developed a coilover suspension for the car that features adjustable pressure and rebound damping. They’ve also lowered the ride height 60-millimeters and mounted some matt black alloy wheels (sadly outlined in the car color) that are 9×20 inchers up front and 11×21 at the rear. Tires are Dunlop SP Sport Maxxs, 245/35R20 on the front and 325/30R21s out back.

No, they didn’t mention what the whole thing will cost you.

Here’s Geiger’s presser:

PRESS RELEASE GeigerCars.de GmbH – Ford GT Geiger HP 790

Now that’s a winner!

Red is supposed to be the standard colour of warning. US car specialists GeigerCars.de from Munich have turned this established wisdom on its head, presenting their hottest shot with eye-catching bright green paintwork. The Ford GT “Geiger HP 790″ is the third star after the Dodge Challenger SRT-8 (569 HP) and the Corvette Z06 Bi-Turbo (890 HP).

Karl Geiger’s latest creation lives up to its name: the super sports car’s 5.4 liter V8 engine can reach a terrific 790 horsepower, an impressive 240 HP more than its series equivalent. The source of this explosion of power? Above all the replacement of the series-produced 2.3 liter with a more powerful 4.0 liter compressor which blasts the combustion chamber at over 1.25 bars. Larger throttle valves and a sports filter were also installed to supply the eight cylinders with even more fresh air. The engine and gear cooling systems had of course also to be adjusted to the new design as well as engine electrics.
Geiger HP 790 shoots to 100km/h in just 3.6 seconds, breaks the 200km/h mark 6 seconds later and reaches 300 kilometers an hour in only 22.8 seconds – all this to bloodcurdling roars from the two 110-millimetre sports exhaust tail pipes – an in house development. Thrust and air resistance don’t balance until you hit 360km/h. The supercharged V8 reaches maximum power at 6320 rpm and its maximum torque – 863 Newton meters – at just 4600 revolutions.
No question that a ride like this is not for the beginner, but experienced drivers will find the specially developed coilover suspension a great asset. Its hydraulic shock absorbers have adjustable pressure and rebound damping which can be set to suit drivers’ needs and preferences – and of course the terrain.
Low and wide: the classic Ford sports car proportions are taken even further with 60-millimetere lowering. The wheel housing can’t high superb matt black alloy wheels outlined in the car colour, mounted in 9×20 inches at the front and an impressive 11×21 at the rear. 245/35R20 Dunlop SP Sport Maxx tyres on the front axle ensure precise transmission of wheel commands whilst the drive axle 325/30R21 tyres constantly fight for grip and traction – if only so they don’t disappear in a cloud of blue smoke.

Related posts:

Geiger GTS – A Corvette ZR1 on Steroids

GeigerCars Tunes the Mustang GT500

Ford Developing New V-6 Engine, Likely With EcoBoost

Automoblog.net - A Car Blog for Auto Enthusiasts

Geiger GTS – A Corvette ZR1 on Steroids

Car News

Chevy

GeigerCars

GeigerCars, a German tuning company that focuses on American sports cars, brought over the 638 horsepower Corvette ZR1 and gave it some German engineering. The significant increase in power helps the Geiger GTS go from 0-62 mph in only 3.6 seconds, and hit an incredible top speed of 212 mph.

<script type="text/javascript"

Once they’re out of the Geiger showroom, there is an obvious German touch to the project. The 2010 Geiger Chevy Camaro SS Compressor is no different. The tuners took a new Camaro SS and added their own touch…what have they come up with?

The 2010 Camaro SS can produce a healthy 432 hp – but that’s not enough. Geiger added a supercharger and exhaust system to the car, which allows it to produce a head-snapping 568 hp. A twin plate sport clutch helps the six-speed manual transmission handle the extra power, which propels the car up to a top speed of 195 mph.

Geiger has also fitted the Camaro with a new suspension system consisting of coilovers, adjustable anti-roll bars in the front and rear, as well as an upgraded braking system. New wheels round out the package, which you can instantly tell is German-inspired just by looking at the pictures (below.)

Related posts:

Geiger GTS – A Corvette ZR1 on Steroids

GeigerCars Tunes the Mustang GT500

2010 Chevy Camaro Transformers Edition

Automoblog.net - A Car Blog for Auto Enthusiasts

GeigerCars Hummer GT – The Ultimate Attention Whore

GeigerCars

Hummer

Not getting enough attention in your boring old Hummer H2?
