They added on lightweight 19-inch alloys, lowered the car a bit, and gave it a sport suspension for better handling. Along with a few other minor improvements and aesthetic changes, they added sport mufflers whose sound can be changed with a remote. Ok, that’s pretty cool…

So it doesn’t look bad; I like the front and rear accents, but they couldn’t have even used real carbon fiber? The suspension upgrade is good, and the new wheels look great on the 370Z.

I feel like they could have done more. The mufflers are a good idea, but they should have done the whole exhaust so they could at least tout a power upgrade. I’m not sure the stuff they did with the car is worth a tuned “concept” though. Maybe if they did a brake upgrade, tuned the ecu, maybe a new intake. And for the love of God, use real carbon fiber next time.

Related posts:

2009 Nissan 370Z Review

Nissan Reveals New Nismo 350Z

2010 Hennessey HPE700 Camaro

Automoblog.net - A Car Blog for Auto Enthusiasts

Aluminum-bodied Daytona Coupe Repro Available Soon

Car News

Cobra

Ooooooo, shiny. The “normal” Superformance coupes are fiberglass, which makes more sense from a bang for your buck perspective, but hey, if you want to go all the way, why not go for the full metal repro?

Peter Brock, the man responsible for the design of the original Daytona Coupe worked with Superformance when they made the glass version (from what I gather, it’s identical to the original), so either of these are going to be as close to the real deal as you can get.

As with the Superformance’s Shelby CSX4000 and the Commemorative GT40 continuation vehicles, the Coupe will be listed in the Shelby Registry (neat). Also, the Daytona Coupe also features a reworked suspension system that is shared with the upcoming MkII version of the Superformance Coupe.

Usually I’m not a big believer in reproduction cars … Fieros that look like Ferraris and whatnot, but I make an exception for Superformance and the guys at ERA that make a GT40 copy so good that Bobby Rahal gets direct bolt on spares for his original car from them.

Daytona Coupes were, and are, very impressive cars. They were blindingly fast, ultra-reliable with that Ford truck engine in the front, and very, very pretty. Also, they are kind of hell to live with, from what I gather. They are really loud inside, the visibility isn’t all that good, and if you’re not ready for it, all that power can be a handful, but still … but still … sure is tempting.

Source: Autoblog

Related posts:

Newman/Penske Win Daytona 500

Happy Anniversary Daytona

Hot Rod / Muscle Car Show in Daytona Beach, FL

Automoblog.net - A Car Blog for Auto Enthusiasts
