Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 - Video

Lamborghini Murcielago LP640

I really can’t say enough about the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640; it’s amazing. Even with the Murci starting the “tamer” generation of Lambos, the thing is a beast. The LP640 ups the base Murcielago by increasing the engine displacement to 6.5 liters, the horsepower to 640, and updating the exterior with a much more modern, aggressive stance with really cool wheels.

Here is a video showcasing the supercar on Top Gear. Beautiful.

Must See: Lamborghini, Ferrari, and Pagani Factory Tours

While in Italy, a user over at bcsportbikes.com was lucky enough to take tours of the Lamborghini, Ferrari, and Pagani factories. On the tour, he took a lot of pictures and was kind enough to share them with us. There are also a couple of videos worth checking out. One of a Lamborghini LP640, and another of the Ferrari FXX on Ferrari’s own Fiorano test track.

Lamborghini Showroom

He took some excellent pictures of the whole tour, with explanations and details. Anybody who is a fan of the Italian exotic cars must take a look at these. Sadly, he wasn’t allowed to take pictures of the manufacturing floor in any of the plants, but he does briefly explain his experience on the floor. One of the coolest parts (in my opinion,) is the Lamborghini Museum, which is the first set of pictures. You get to see all of the Lamborghinis ever made, including some that weren’t. It also gives a great history of Lamborghini that is very interesting to see. In the Pagani factory he even notices something that hints at a new (not Zonda) supercar!

Anyway, go check out the Factory Tours Post. And for your sake, I hope you have a fast internet connection!

ItalCarDesign Gallardo GT Sport

ItalCarDesign has released one of the best modified Lamborghini Gallardos to date, and in my opinion, it’s the best. While I could live without the black stripes down the center, the other modifications are excellent.

ItalCarDesign Gallardo GT

First on the list for the Gallardo GT Sport, ItalCarDesign brought the Gallardos output to 565 hp. Aerodynamics are accented by the front spoiler, sleek rear wing and rear diffuser. As for the looks, the metallic orange paint with 20 inch color-coded wheels and tinted tail-lights add to the aggressive attitude of the GT. The “papilon” out-and-up opening doors (see gallery below) are a nice change from the normal scissor style doors seen on Honda Civics across the land.

Lamborghini Not Going Retro

2007 Lamborghini Miura Concept

According to Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann, they will not be building the Miura concept which was unveiled in January at the Detroit Auto Show, or any other retro-based models, even in limited-production.

“Retro design is not what we are here for. So we won’t do the Miura, even as a limited edition,” Mr. Winkelmann told the U.K.’s Car magazine. This is probably a good decision, as now only the American automakers have to resort to retro models. Many people consider new cars with retro designs to be left to the companies that are not creative enough to make decent designs anymore. Lamborghini is certainly not one of them.

Lamborghini Loves 2006

Partly thanks to the extremely popular Gallardo, Lamborghini’s sales are through the roof for 2006 so far. The addition of the Gallardo Spyder a few months ago really helped, and there is already a 12-month waiting list for the Murcielago LP640.

Lamorghini Gallardo Spyder

The Lambo dealers are popping up everywhere; at the beginning of 2006 there were 65 dealers in the world, and there are expected to be 100 by the end of this year. At this time there are 88. That’s huge growth. They’ve noticed the biggest growth in the US, where (first-half) sales have climbed 68% since 2005, and Europe has grown nearly 30%. As a whole, first-half sales for Lamborghini have grown an astonishing 45% over 2005.

Hamann Lamborghini Gallardo Spider - Awesome Doors

Holy crap, this is hot. Check out what Hamann did to the doors on this Gallardo Spider:

The Gallardo, being the “Baby Brother” Lamborghini, has been lacking in the “bad-ass” factor the other Lambo’s have. Read on…
