Mini Supercars - A Photo Gallery

Mini Lamborghini Diablo

Sometime last year, a few Photoshop gurus got together and made some very funny “mini” versions of their favorite cars. The trend caught on, and soon lots of people were taking their favorite cars, and through the process of image manipulation, made them mini versions of themselves.

Below, you will find a photo gallery full of these micro machines, in all of their hilarious glory. If you have any you’d like to share, please leave a comment.

Lamborghini Super Trofeo Hits The Track, Ready To Race

SuperTrofeoTrack.jpg

Ah, Lamborghini, long beloved by gearheads, bad boy racer types, and all of us here at Automoblog is (finally) turning up the heat in its racing department.

One of the major dings against Lambo in the past, aside from little to no rearward visibility, has been the fact that they never really raced all that much. Sure, there’s been the occasional one-make series tried half-heartedly now and again, and they did make F1 engines for a couple of seasons, but on the whole, racing took a far back seat to Lamborghini’s road car interests.

Well, that’s changing, fast. Meet the new Lamborghini Super Trofeo.

2009 Lamborghini Gallardo and Murciélago Ad Personam

Lamborghini Gallardo Murcielago Ad Personam

Lamborghini just announced their newest personalization options for Gallardo LP560-4 and Murciélago LP640. Really, it’s just more color options, but to give them credit, it’s a bit better than that. The Ad Personam package offers a variety of matte color options, which tend to be reserved for aftermarket tuner companies. Now the Lambo guys have taken it upon themselves to offer these colors - the first of which is a very nice blue color called “Blu Cepheus.”

If the light blue doesn’t float your boat, they also offer the cars in a matte brownish-black (Marrone Apus,) matte black (Nero Nemesis,) and matte white (Bianco Canopus.) The Ad Personam program also offers unique interior colors. Of course, you can get Lamborghini to make the car any color you want for the right price, but with Ad Personam, they make specific suggestions for color combinations. Regular Automoblog readers will know I’m a sucker for special manufacturer colors, so I predictably love these new color choices.

Carbon fiber accents, special colored brake calipers and extra wheel options round out the customization options for the Ad Personam package. More images below… Continue Reading…

SEMA 2008: Lamborghini Gallardo Twin-Turbo

Lamborghini Gallardo TT

Underground Racing showed off their Lamborghini Gallardo Twin Turbo at SEMA 2008. Being one of the fastest Gallardos in the world, this Lambo has a quarter-mile time of only 9.9 seconds at 161.8 MPH.

Upgrades to the Gallardo include twin billet turbos, forged pistons, Penske suspension, K&N air filter, HRE wheels, air/water intercooler, among more things. This kit from Underground Racing starts at $54,000 to bring your Gallardo up to 900 horsepower, and goes up to around $60,000 for the 1200 HP option.

Turns out this Gallardo (the same one that was at SEMA) is on sale for $225,000 on eBay.

Zorba Lamborghini Murcielago Kit Car

Zorba Lamborghini Murcielago kit car

Anthony from Carzi.com turned me on to this funky-looking kit car. Made by Zorba, the kit goes on a stretched Pontiac Fiero chassis (as most kits do.) Starting at about $31,300, depending on options, that doesn’t include rear spoiler, wheels, or system upgrades. They also make a roadster version.

Funny thing is, this kit actually looks pretty well made, but the headlights and weird hood and roof scoop ruin the whole thing.

Terrible Lamborghini Murcielago “Replica” on eBay

Lamborghini Murcielago Replica

Replica cars are, for the most part, meant to fool people into thinking you’re driving the real thing, so you can save some money. Look, I’m all for people doing crazy shit to cars and being innovative, but let’s be reasonable. Who is this going to fool? I don’t even feel right calling this a Lamborghini replica.

Built off of a 2008 Pontiac Solstice chassis, at least it’s a step up from the typical Fiero kit cars. And to this person’s credit, it looks like the build was actually done very well with good craftsmanship. But saying that this looks like a Murcielago is blasphemy.

And for $70,000? It’s a nice build, but keep in mind you’re just buying a Pontiac Solstice in a Lamborghini costume. Continue Reading…
