Quite a few details for the upcoming Infiniti G37 Coupe have surfaced in the past couple of days. The successor to the popular G35 Coupe will officially be called the “G37,” and will debut at the New York Auto Show next month (as I said in my Chicago Auto Show post.)
While the 2007 Chicago Auto Show was altogether a great time (see Part 1 and Part 2 of my reviews,) there were a few things that I was disappointed about. Just like every year, there were cars that I was hoping to see and weren’t there, but of course there were some surprises that made up for the shortcomings. Here are some of the things that I wish were at the show but weren’t:
I was expecting Infiniti to display the next G35 Coupe as they did last year, but it was nowhere to be found. When I spoke with an Infiniti representative, he said they will be revealing the final production version at the New York Auto Show in April, and that it will be going on sale later this year for the 2008 model year. It’s going on sale earlier than I thought, so the fact that it wasn’t there is totally worth it.

Infiniti just released a sketch of what the 2008 G Coupe will resemble. Whether it will still be called the G35 or not is unsure, but given the rumored 3.7 liter V-6 that the car will most likely be powered by, I’m thinking more along the lines of G37. From the sketches, it seems Infiniti wants the new coupe to look like a mix between the beautiful Coupe Concept, and the current G35 sedan. The 2007 Chicago Auto Show is coming up in a couple of months (Feb 9-18, 2007,) and just like every year, I’ll be there bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. You’ll see plenty of coverage here at AutomoBlog shortly after the show. Every once in a while I check up on the Chicago Auto Show website, and there have been a few recent updates on the vehicles that will be present. I’m really excited about quite a few of them, and there are always more cars at the show than the website lets on. Here are some of the cars that I’m especially excited about:
OK, enough is enough. From the tuners DAMD comes another Aston Martin look-alike. First came the good looking DAMD Miata, then the DAMD Nissan 350Z, now we get a Infiniti G35 Coupe, which is part of the Black X Metal line along with the 350Z. It seems as if their designs are getting worse every car.
Customers get the horrible looking modified front end, disgusting 19″ rims, and an optional exhaust with a few other minor modifications. I would think that combining two of my favorite cars would produce something beautiful, but clearly I was wrong. I hope I never see one of these on the road. The G35 Coupe is one of the most beautiful cars around, leave it alone.
