Hundreds of Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Maseratis, Alfa Romeos and other Italian exotics showed up for Concorso Italiano in Monterey, CA last Friday. I really wanted to attend, but couldn’t find the time this year. Hopefully next year will prove differently. Although the Concorso is called “The Celebration of Italian Style” and focused on Italian Sports Cars, there were plenty of other enthusiast cars present, such as Rolls-Royce, Saleen, BMW, Lotus, and more.

At Concorso Italiano, Ferrari celebrated the 50th anniversary of the gorgeous 250 GT California Spyder, while Lamborghini President Stephan Winklemann and test driver Valentino Balboni were present to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the legendary Countach, showing off the first Countach ever produced.

A few other notable cars present, were the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera, Lambo Murcielago R-GT race car, and 1 of only three Lamborghini Miura Roadsters. Continue Reading…

They finally got it right; this has to be the sexiest Maserati ever. Designed by the infamous Pininfarina, the Maserati GranTurismo will debut at the Geneva Motor Show next year.

Although it has some styling cues of the awkward-looking Quattroporte sedan, the GranTurismo Coupe wins my vote with it’s aggressive headlights, modern taillights, long wheelbase, and front grill that looks like it will eat you alive if you wander too close. Continue Reading…

Last weekend was the 15th annual Italian Concours d’ Elegance in Des Moines, WA. The show was full of gorgeous Italian motorcycles and cars which are arguably the most beautiful machines on earth.

The people that attend this exhibit stand firmly south of the Alps in the Italian vs. German design and engineering debate. Germans make marvelous cars and the engineering is perfect, but the Italians do just a little bit more to make them art, and many of the greats were on display. The artistry wasn’t just visual either; Ferraris and Ducatis were making their own music periodically throughout the show.

The show was well attended in the auto category with a large contingent of Lamborghinis and Ferraris. Their smaller cousins were in attendance as well by Fiat and a few shining Alfa Romeos. Somehow the show was even infiltrated by a few pieces of British Iron; a couple of gorgeous Aston Martins looked on. Continue Reading…

German tuner Hamann is at it again. This time they’re taken the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 and turned it into what they like to call a “Stealth Bomber on four wheels.”

The kit includes a new double-pipe stainless sports rear silencer and a high-flow catalytic converter. Aesthetically, the modified Murci sports a new front and rear spoiler in either fiberglass or carbon-Kevlar, and also includes a two-part rear diffuser with additional air hoses for the side air intakes, and new side skirts.
