src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">

After the magnificent display that was the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show, I wrote an article on the notion that the California coast was the place automakers preferred to display their latest creations and concepts. Wondering if the 2012 auto show in Detroit would be have the same amount of enthusiasm, the sensory overload-inducing debuts set to occur at this week’s opening of the North American International Auto Show leads me to concludes thoughts of the Motor City becoming less of an industry focal point seems a waste of mental energy. The biggest auto manufacturers of the United States, Japan, Europe and even India are expected to provide an automotive delight.

Ahead of major auto shows, the marketing departments of carmakers are challenged to entice interest in a vehicle debut without giving too much away from the physical spectacle. Leading into the 2012 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, various tactics are being rolled out by auto brands. Whether they want to unveil the entire full image of the vehicle or a mere teaser photo, the auto companies are careful in their attempts to grab the attention of media and the overall car-adoring public.

For the 2012 edition of the North American International Auto Show, the following is a few of the production-based 2013 model year vehicles making a world debut:

Toyota Prius c

The smallest member of the now established Prius hybrid family, Toyota plans to capitalize on the high efficiency small car market with what will become North America’s first subcompact gasoline-electric vehicle. Roughly 5 inches longer than the 2012 Yaris, the Toyota Prius c liftback body style is a careful execution of small car values with high technology.

Beyond the Toyota Synergy Drive powertrain technology, the interior of the Prius c will incorporate an array of infotainment solutions thoughtful to the youth market the Japanese-based automaker wants to attract. With Bluetooth standard, optional equipment to be offered on the Toyota Prius c includes Toyota Entune multimedia system. Through Toyota Entune, occupants of the Prius c are given access to traffic and weather updates as well as Pandora Internet radio.

Two vital unknowns remain with the pending introduction at the 2012 auto show. Firstly, what will be the fuel economy expectations from the Toyota Prius c hybrid powertrain? Toyota has indicated a city range of more than 50 miles per gallon is estimated for the smallest Prius. Secondly, when the Prius c reaches showrooms, what can the younger generation of Toyota buyers expect to buy for the subcompact? If placed around the $20,000 range (in between the Yaris and common Prius hybrid), the Toyota Prius c could be a major spoiler to the eco-car marketplace.

Cadillac ATS

No longer the 1950s and 1960s when Cadillac’s hulking convertibles defined American luxury, it’s become the objective of the division in the 21st century to redefine its image among the top premium cars. While not hitting a home run with every new product, Cadillac has cemented a reputation for featuring solid luxury and effective technology on smaller vehicles. Applying their lessons to what will be their smallest production vehicle since the disastrous Cimarron of the 1980s, the 2013 Cadillac ATS will be the General Motors division latest test in the modern luxury car marketplace.

The Cadillac ATS has expected to be the most vibrant display of compact vehicle refinement of their new car line-up at the 2012 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Through the teaser image, we can expect to see the 2013 Cadillac ATS to resemble its bigger brother CTS sedan. One of the more compelling characteristics of the compact car is the use of an all-new rear wheel drive platform. Specifically aiming at the BMW 3-Series and the Mercedes-Benz C Class, the Cadillac ATS sedan will have a strong assortment of engine power to support what should be a fierce luxury car battle. To offer three powerplant choices, the 2013 ATS will offer a 2.5 liter 4-cylinder engine, the 3.6 liter V-6 already found on Cadillac products and a new 270-horsepower, turbocharged 2-liter engine to debut in the vehicle.

The 2013 Cadillac ATS will also feature available Magnetic Ride Control suspension and the brand’s latest CUE in-car infotainment system.

Ford Fusion

The third-highest selling vehicle in the Ford Motor Company behind the Ford F-150 and the Ford Escape, the Fusion exists in the narrow but important market segment of mid-sized family sedans.

Kept under a great deal of secrecy by the auto company, there has not even been as much as a teaser shot ushered out for the 2013 Ford Fusion. Unsure of how radical or tame the 2013 Fusion styling will be on the four-door sedan, observers at the unveiling should expect Ford to advertise the new vehicle’s improved fuel economy and technology. Judging from the discontinuation of the Escape hybrid with the 2013 model year vehicle, a hybrid version of the new Ford Fusion might not be a guarantee. What should be certain with the 2013 Fusion’s powertrain is the inclusion of an EcoBoost engine (likely the 2-liter, four-cylinder powerplant). Based on the competition in the vehicle category, expect the all-wheel drive option to return as a substitute to standard front-wheel power. New technology expected on the upcoming Ford Fusion’s interior is an available Lane Keeping System and the revised version of MyFord Touch.

Ahead of the 2012 North American International Auto Show debut, Ford provided potential customers a chance to interact with the 2013 model year sedan through a unique mobile app. Available free for Apple iPhone and Android devices at fordfusionapp.com, the app supplies an experience with 19 unlockable driving courses through augmented reality. When the 2013 Ford Fusion is presented on January 10th, users of the Ford Fusion mobile app will be able to witness full images of the new car.

Dodge Dart

With close automobile rivals Chevrolet and Ford staking claims to the subcompact car category, Chrysler Corporation’s Dodge division stood on the sidelines unable to compete. Though many automotive photographers were able to snap spy shots of a proposed small car based on the Dodge Hornet concept for years, corporate restructuring of the auto company has tightened resources for new car debuts. Reactivating a long-running Dodge nameplate, the Chrysler Group’s subcompact 2013 Dart will be targeting the growing entry-level car segment.

Teasing automotive enthusiasts with the same successful spoon-feeding of images that welcomed the 2011 Dodge Durango’s return, only a front corner and interior panel shot defines the 2013 Dodge Dart leading into this year‘s North American International Auto Show. The first all-new product created for the North American market by Chrysler through its 2009 collaboration with Fiat Group, the 2013 Dodge Dart rests on the same compact platform as the Alfa Romeo Giulietta. While the Giulietta is a hatchback, the 2013 Dodge Dart making its debut in Detroit will be a more Americanized four-door sedan shape. Conforming to the Dodge brand identity, the Dart will be aggressively styled with touches found on the new Dodge Charger. Mechanicals for the 2013 Dodge Dart is likely to include a 1.4 liter and 2-liter engine with an available 9-speed automatic transmission.

The smallest vehicle in a brand line-up, the 2013 Dodge Dart will perhaps face the fiercest fight in the modern car industry. Ford Fiesta, Chevy Sonic, Hyundai Accent and Toyota Yaris have either new or redesigned products each providing competitive powertrains, standard equipment and fuel economy.

Nissan Pathfinder Concept

Nissan’s most enduring SUV (sport utility vehicle) brand, the Pathfinder lived up to its name since debuting in 1986. In constant production since introduction, the Nissan Pathfinder’s ability to connect with the North American consumer led the Japan-derived brand to share the Pathfinder name briefly with the large Amanda SUV. Rolling out at the 2012 North American International Auto Show as a concept vehicle, the exterior design for Nissan’s latest generation of the Pathfinder should remain close to the production model set for release later this year.

A four-wheel drive set to offer seating for seven passengers, the Nissan Pathfinder Concept will feature a refreshed exterior design. A more aerodynamic look than the predecessor model, the teaser photo of the Pathfinder Concept unveils a roof similar to the Nissan Quest minivan and body panels featuring aggressive flaring like the Juke. Buyers of the next generation Nissan Pathfinder should feel confident that the powerplant options should consist of the VQ series six-cylinder and the VK series eight-cylinder engine.

Users of Facebook will be some of the first observers to see the Nissan Pathfinder Concept. After 8:30am on Monday, Facebook users who log into the Nissan page will be able to view the new vehicle after clicking on the “Pathfinder Reveal” tab.

Information and photo source: Chrysler Group, Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Nissan Americas, Toyota Motor Corporation

Related posts:

Los Angeles Vs Detroit: Which US Auto Show Rules?

9th Generation Honda Civic Debuting at Detroit Auto Show

2009 Detroit Wrap-Up: 10 Best of Show

Automoblog.net - A Car Blog for Auto Enthusiasts

Lexus LF-LC Hybrid Sports Coupe Concept Revealed

Car Design

Car News

Concept Cars

Detroit Auto Show

Hybrid

Lexus

2012 North American International Auto Show

Concept

concept car

Lexus cars

Lexus LF-LC

LF-LC Hybrid Sport Coupe

sports coupe

In the early part of the 2000s, Lexus was the revered luxury automobile benchmark winning over customers with premium comfort and technology. src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">

In the early part of the 2000s, Lexus was the revered luxury automobile benchmark winning over customers with premium comfort and technology. However, the past several years have seen the Toyota-backed luxury car division fall from good graces. Following the release of 2011 United States sale results, the Lexus brand continues a descent downward in their reputation for modern luxury car prestige. Selling 198,552 vehicles total in 2011, Lexus saw its unit sales drop by roughly 14.5 percent over 2010. An even more troubling for Lexus cars and crossover vehicles is the sale losses compared to the 2007 calendar year. Distressing for their passenger cars, Lexus has seen their product demand plunge almost by one-half to 101,181. Despite the debut of a redesigned GX 460 and two new cars debuting for 2012 model year (the CT 200h and the GS 350), the passion in the Lexus division is still lacking in a competitive luxury car market.

A reputation damaged by the Toyota company’s accelerator issue of 2009, Lexus also lost favour with luxury car buyers with questionable new vehicle styling. Looking for chance to gain enthusiasm for the luxury division, the purebred supercar Lexus LFA vaulted the stylized ‘L’ badge to the front covers of many auto magazines. Produced for a limited run of 500 vehicles at an American list price of over $375,000, the 552-horsepower LFA has little chance to provide a sizable billboard to Lexus’ brand vehicles.

In mid-December, teaser images of an exciting new design concept have given the Lexus loyalists an early Christmas present. Serving a taste of what would be a show car ahead of the 2012 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, a close shot of the front headlamp housing and air intake was released ahead of a second picture detailing some exquisite interior contours. With a week ahead of the Detroit automotive exhibit, the Lexus LF-LC breaks cover as a hybrid-propelled sport coupe concept.

An aggressive design assertion, this 2012 show car is the Lexus division’s latest exercise with the LF Series design studies that has been intimately attached to look of future production products. Presented in bright red, the Lexus LF-LC radiates a Ferrari-like silhouette. Sporty yet romance, the premium sport coupe LF-LC concept car wears a wide front end that emphasizes Lexus design cues in a most embellished manner. A big, chrome mesh grille features an inward bodywork points. A 2+2 sport coupe design, the LF-LC concept vehicle wears a glass roof that angles down to the fastback rear window.

The LF-LC will be a showcase for a yet to be determined hybrid gasoline-electric powertrain. Being a performance application, the electric propulsion system in the Lexus LF-LC will likely be configured around providing a power boost over the gasoline engine rather than supply fuel saving. For Lexus, their four available production hybrid vehicles in 2012 is one area positively defining the luxury division. Lexus stands at the forefront in the premium category with hybrid or electric vehicle technology use while other competitors like Mercedes-Benz and BMW have only been dipping their toes in the electrified car market.

When the Lexus LF-LC hybrid sports coupe concept debuts physically, there will be a lot of attention on the other innovations brought forward in the design study. In the time that will follow the 2012 North American International Auto Show, it will be interesting to see how Lexus adapts the lessons gained in the LF-LC concept.

Information and photo source: Toyota Motor Corporation

Related posts:

The Lexus LF-Gh Hybrid Concept Car Exposed

Lexus Teases LF-GH Concept Ahead of NYIAS

Lexus LF-Ch Compact Hybrid To Be At 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show

Automoblog.net - A Car Blog for Auto Enthusiasts

Did Ford Evos Concept Replace Santa Claus’ Sleigh in 2011?

Car Design

Concept Cars

Ford

Misc

Christmas

Ford concept

Ford Evos

Ford Evos Concept

Ford Evos concept sleigh

Santa Claus

For another year, Santa Claus competed his tour across the globe distributing gifts for up to 267,300,000 homes and residences in 2011 to the attention of good children. src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">

For another year, Santa Claus competed his tour across the globe distributing gifts for up to 267,300,000 homes and residences in 2011 to the attention of good children. Again, the Christmas time delivery of presents worldwide remains to be a baffling development.

An age-long question concludes to go unanswered; how does Santa Claus completes so many deliveries in just one night. Ford Motor Company calculated that a trip just less than 441,447,814 miles was completed by Santa’s sleigh this year. In other real-world assessments of the annual journey with nine reindeer, Ford crunched numbers speculating that the 2011 trip would require 182 million pounds of food for the well-being of the reindeer. Twisting the spirit of Christmas, Ford stuns us with the announcement that Santa’s over 441 million-mile trip emits 214,670 tons of carbon dioxide. News that definitely provokes environmentalist to surface misgivings on Santa Claus, Ford floats a proposal for a more fuel-efficient travel vessel.

Based on the Ford Evos concept car unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, a high-tech sleigh is considered Santa’s future transportation when delivering children’s gifts across the world. An open-air vehicle designed by Ford’s Paul Wraith, the shiny red Evos concept sleigh rides on skis. Door edge protector, Blind Spot Information System and active park assist insures Santa Claus can place the Ford Evos concept sleigh into the tightest cityscapes.

Though the power from an intrepid group of magical reindeer have been the traditional mode of transport for Santa Claus’ sleigh, Ford Motor Company believes their EcoBoost technology will be the source for future Christmas carols. The turbocharged, direct-injected one-liter engine found inside the Ford Evos concept sleigh propels Santa Claus and the sizable cargo with 123 horsepower. Productive EcoBoost power, the high fuel efficiency is aided by an EcoMode that relays gas-saving information for the jolly elf. It is in this area of fuel consumption Ford claims their Evos concept sleigh can reward Santa with up to a 90 percent reduction in fuel costs. Said to complete the entire 2011 Christmas Eve night trip on 10,011,868 liters (2644855.7 gallons) of gasoline, Ford estimates a total cost around 15.5 million dollars American for fuel. The new Evos concept sleigh is also said to emit less Co2 emissions than the nine-reindeer team that pulls Santa’s famous vessel through the world journey.

Jingle bell rocking behind a steering wheel, Santa Claus will find the Ford Evos concept sleigh’s interior is optimized with the power of Ford SYNC. Featuring connectivity options linking Santa’s smartphone through the in-car entertainment system, there is never a reason to take the modern reigns of the Ford-powered sleigh thanks to hands-free calling and audio incoming texts. With 267,300,000 deliveries, Ford SYNC also provides vital and accurate navigation assistance to negotiate around changes of scenery since the previous year’s Christmas Eve voyage. For some entertainment through the few spare moments, Santa Claus’ Ford Evos concept sleigh offers SYNC’s audio options including Bluetooth audio streaming and voice-activated MP3 music searching.

Ford Motor Company’s work to redefine the sleigh is not the first time a company has trekked into the definition for the tradition of Santa Claus. Coca-Cola has received credit for the modern image of Santa Claus while department store Montgomery Wards published the first account of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer in 1939. Even in the Will Ferrell movie Elf, Santa’s sleigh employed a jet engine to compensate for the lack of Christmas cheer.

While Ford’s plan to replace Father Christmas’ classic ride with the Evos concept sleigh could be a push using the scientific merits developed for greatness for the Everyday world we life, the legend of Santa Claus is propelled by the magic of Christmas. It reasons to believe that the reindeer serving alongside the jolly man in a red suit are also maintained under the same magic. The mere thought of replacing the beloved reindeer with a fuel-driven automobile could in fact be material to put some Ford engineers on the naughty list for the 2012 Christmas trip. Accepting the Ford Evos concept sleigh as a thoughtful alternative to the one-night global trip should at least be appreciated by the favourite elf.

Information and photo source: Ford Motor Company

Related posts:

One Ford: Ford Evos Concept Shows Off Global Design Language

2011 Detroit Auto Show’s Top Concept: Ford Vertrek

Ford Transit Van to Replace E-Series in US for 2013

Automoblog.net - A Car Blog for Auto Enthusiasts

Virtually Profound: Toyota Fun-Vii Debuts at Tokyo Motor Show

Car Design

Car News

Concept Cars

Tokyo Motor Show

Toyota

2011 Tokyo Motor Show

concept car

Fun-Vii concept

Toyota Fun-Vii

The Tokyo Motor Show continuous theme of highlighting social relevance in automobiles makes the exhibition a definite anchor for motoring attention. It’s commonplace to find the most outrageous interpretations of transportation on display at the biennial event. The 2011 event is no exception as major vehicle producer Toyota leading the way. Reconstructing notions of mobile technology, the Toyota Fun-Vii concept is a three-person people mover completely consumed in the modern digital age.

A true intention of the Toyota Fun-Vii concept is to recognize how digital infotainment technology can be optimized through the motoring experience. A radical presentation inside and outside, the futuristic concept vows integrations with user lifestyles in an all-conquering way. A four-wheel transportation conveyance, the Toyota Fun-Vii is electric powered. Replenished via wireless inductive charging pads, the Fun-Vii fuelling method is absolutely not science fiction. While select General Motors cars will include the cordless charging system as an interior option for mobile electronic devices, a Rolls-Royce 102EX concept vehicle earlier this year profiled the solution for recharging the entire powertrain. The Toyota Fun-Vii can be manually driven or piloted automatically through city streets and roads.

A streamlined shape, the first thing immediately noticeable with the Toyota Fun-Vii is the lack of a windshield or exterior windows. Occupants vision inside is projected electronically throughout the cabin completely encapsulating the interior compartment. Without door handles, the entire body becomes a user interface. Beyond providing points to open doors, the surface becomes an interactive panel displaying requested information including maps.

Bodywork composition of the Toyota Fun-Vii allows the vehicle to become a digital billboard or even a chameleon. With the dictation of a user, the Fun-Vii exterior appearance can be adapted to any colour or scheme desirable. Dynamic presentations and messaging is also possible with the Toyota concept car unlocking what could be a wealth of potential ideas. Toyota reveals that exterior presentation changes can be initialized easily through a smartphone device in a near effortless manner. A novel idea promoting near endless creativity, the practical foundation for such a feature could provide some problematic circumstances if someone is attempting to evade law enforcement.

Inside, the Toyota Fun-Vii concept car explores near limitless potential for digital interaction with the vehicle user. Large console displays as well as holographic projections fill the cabin area providing important vehicle information and entertainment for up to three passengers. Featuring the flexible digital reach of any Apple iPhone or other smartphone device, the interior interface allows occupants to effortlessly communicate and amuse themselves. Amongst entertainment options when the Fun-Vii is engaged in autopilot is a virtual reality racing game.

Clearly a concept vehicle, the Toyota Fun-Vii design is meant as an inspiration in how the digital age could be fully harness in future cars. As time goes by, we will have to see if auto manufacturers and buyers alike will ‘friend’ such a vivid connection on wheels.

Information and photo source: Toyota Motor Corporation

Related posts:

2011 Tokyo Motor Show Signifies Healing for Hurt Country

Production Bound Subaru BRZ Sports Car Debuts in Tokyo

Mazda TAKERI Concept Sedan to Debut at Tokyo Show

Automoblog.net - A Car Blog for Auto Enthusiasts

Volkswagen’s New Super Bug: The Beetle R Concept

Car Design

Car News

Concept Cars

LA Auto Show

VW

2011 Los Angeles Auto Show

Beetle

Beetle R Concept

Los Angeles Auto Show

Volkswagen

Volkswagen Beetle R

Volkswagen concept

VW Beetle

VW New Beetle

Known as a love bug, not a fighter, the original Volkswagen Beetle was never pitched as an all-out performance vehicle. src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">

Known as a love bug, not a fighter, the original Volkswagen Beetle was never pitched as an all-out performance vehicle. Though the highly produced German people’s car gripped many owners with the Beetle’s unique abilities, the rear-mounted, air-cooled engine never clicked as a go-to sports vehicle. Even the 1997 introduction of the new Beetle did not immediately step out of their normal commuter car footprint until 2001. Developing the 221-horsepower Beetle RSI, the limited edition Volkswagen stunned the marketplace unaccustomed to seeing such a modded version of the vehicle. Ten years later, Volkswagen has proceeded to pay an indirect homage to the Beetle RSI with a performance-tailored show car. Debuting at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show in September, the Volkswagen Beetle R joins the extensive list of cars on display at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show.

As the redesigned 21st century Volkswagen Beetle for 2012 attempts to shake off some of its cuteness, customizing the special Beetle R Concept required the German automaker’s engineers to realize the vehicle’s potential as a street performer. Dressed primarily in Serious Gray paint, the Beetle R Concept adapts the stylized factory sport compact nature Volkswagen inserted into the Golf R road car as well as the only-for-Europe Scirocco R sports car. Widened by 1.2 inches for an improved stance, aerodynamics pieces incorporated on the Beetle R Concept includes chrome front splitter as well as a rear featuring a deck spoiler and diffuser.

With the additional body width, the Volkswagen Beetle R Concept utilizes the extra space on the front fascia that now wears a three-slotted air intake. Accented in Black High Gloss colouring, two of the Beetle R openings supplies brake cooling while the center air intake draws additional air into the turbocharged engine for better breathing. Openings on the left and right corners of the hood of the Volkswagen Beetle R are also added to cool the powerplant under higher strain conditions. Besides the front air openings, there is venting located behind the rear tires well’s bodywork of the Volkswagen Beetle R designed to improve vehicle aerodynamics.

Besides the exterior enhancements made to support aerodynamics and performance, the Volkswagen Beetle R 20-inch wheels is a sport touch that truly jazzes up the vehicle’s outer presentation. Crafted in the same Talladega design used on the Golf R and Scirocco R, the concept car’s 20-inch set of aluminum alloys is more sizable than the production Volkswagen R vehicles. These massive wheels only slightly hide the R-specific black-painted brake calipers.

Inside of the Beetle R Concept‘s black and gray nubuck cabin, front passengers are greeted by two-tone Nappa leather sport seats sculpted in a pattern resembling endurance competition cars. A third colour called Space Blue is assembled as piping as well as the accent tone for the ‘R’ badging on the headrests. The Volkswagen Beetle R Concept interior maintains all the modern, high-class controls for interior comfort but also fashions itself to a sportier purpose in subtle regards. A sports car-like instrument display on the Beetle R centers the tachometer for easy viewing by the driver. Brushed aluminum pedals, a decorated shifter handle and special floormats completes the interior dress-ups of note on the Volkswagen Beetle R Concept.

Presenting the styling aspects, Volkswagen has not elaborated on the exact engine performance specifications other than stating the Beetle R produces more horsepower than the Turbo Beetle. Suspension enhancements and key performance numbers are also left to the imagination for this Volkswagen Concept car (at least for the meantime).

Very close to production quality, Volkswagen has not confirmed the car or, most importantly, if any Beetle R models are coming to the United States. Engineering-wise, production of the Beetle R is very feasible based on the fact the new Volkswagen Beetle shares a platform with the current Golf. If the Los Angeles Auto Show crowd judges the concept edition of the Volkswagen Beetle R favourably, a production greenlight could come very soon.

Information and photo source: Volkswagen AG

Related posts:

<a href='http://www.automoblog.net/2009/12/08/diesel-vw-beetle-ev-up-coming-to-america/' rel='bookmark' title='Diesel VW Beetle & EV Up! The underwhelming styling has apparently cut into the reputation for the new Civic regardless to the fact there is no indications core Honda aspirations of quality and value is unaffected. Perhaps caught off-guard by the rush of considerable advancement of competitor’s compact cars, the 2012 Honda Civic’s debut might not have been the thriller the Japanese auto brand is seeking.

While there will be no shortage of loyal Civic buyers eventually upgrading to the ninth-generation car, others left under-stimulated by the new compact vehicle will find the three creations based on the 2012 Honda Civic a reason for exhilaration.

Bisimoto 2012 Honda Civic Si Coupe

A modified sport compact theme designated as a straight-liner performer, the Bisimoto 2012 Honda Civic Si Coupe is maxed out with four-figure horsepower.

The Civic Si edition’s K2427 engine undergoes a drastic retuning by Bisimoto to unleash deep, hidden potential few would expect from an economy car. Arias forged pistons, Supertech valvetrain, NGK Iridium spark plugs and a Golden Eagle intake manifold are some of the mild engine enhancements beefing up the Civic Si Coupe’s 2.4 liter engine for what will be new heights in Honda performance. Supplied by Turbonetics, the Bisimoto 2012 Honda Civic Si Coupe is jarred by an extreme turbocharger and intercooler kit. Requiring racing fuel to run at optimum performance, horsepower for this Bisimoto version of the Honda Civic is estimated in the range of at least 1,004 horsepower. Somewhat surprisingly, the Bisimoto 2012 Honda Civic Si is advertised as street legal.

Wearing a Gatorwrap custom body wrap with Type 2 graphics, Bisimoto adds exterior body improvements to the 2012 Honda Civic Si Coupe available through their Extreme Dimensions collection. Eins Gramm 18-inch aluminum wheels on high performance Falken tires allow the 1000-plus horsepower Bisimoto 2012 Honda Civic Si Couple and its race-spec chassis to sail across pavement. GM and Mattel teamed up to create this cool new concept, and did a fantastic job making it look like a full-sized Hot Wheels toy.

The Camaro Hot Wheels Concept is actually based off of one of the first 16 Hot Wheels toys ever made – the “Custom Camaro” – in 1968. The original toy had what they call a Spectraflame finish, so the team at Chevy spent a significant amount of time trying to recreate the look of a Hot Wheels finish by giving the car this glowing, colored green chrome (using a process never before done on a car,) and did a fantastic job.

The Camaro Hot Wheels Concept has, in addition to the unique paint job, Hot Wheels badging on the front grille, quarter panels, door sills, rear deck lid, and embroidered on the front seatbacks. In terms of styling, they’ve given the car the ZL1 grille and spoiler, a black body kit all-around, black, 20-inch wheels with a red accent stripe, Euro-style taillamps and rear fascia, a black stripe down the middle, and a black aluminum hood insert with milled hood vent extractors. Inside, the concept gets fancy pedals, red lighting in the footwells and cup holders, and a black/red interior theme.

<script type="text/javascript"

That might change a bit in the future though. as the company has indicated ST could be coming to more models. At the Los Angeles International Auto Show later in the month, Ford will be debuting the production Focus ST, which was previewed by a concept model.

The Focus ST has been billed as Ford’s first truly global performance vehicle. Now Ford is announcing the five-door Fiesta ST, which is also being billed as a “concept” at first. Most likely, it is anything but. It follows a three-door model that was shown at the Frankfurt Auto Show.

Suped up hatchbacks have never really been a presence in the United States like they are in other countries, but with the Fiesta, Focus and other manufacturers having small hatches on the market, that could change.

For instance, who wouldn’t want to see a Mazdaspeed 2? It’d be pretty neat. Ford is testing the waters on the idea with the Fiesta ST. The Fiesta ST follows a similar template to the Focus ST before it, and Ford says that’s the whole point. “With the Fiesta ST Concept, we are demonstrating that our global performance plan has legs,” says Jost Capito, Ford director of Global Performance Vehicles..the Fiesta ST Concept shows in the most dramatic way possible that the qualities that define an ST are not limited to one model….the potential for delivering the ST experience to an even wider audience is laid bare by this exciting new concept.”

They sound pretty excited about it. Following the Focus ST’s mould means a distinctive, gaping maw front end, more aggressive, blacked out headlights, 17-inch wheels and a body kit. Power comes from an Ecoboost (what else?) 1.6-liter four-cylinder, delivering 180 horsepower and 177 pound feet of torque. It is mated to a six-speed manual transmission.

There’s no all-wheel drive to be found here either; the Fiesta ST remains a front-driver. We’d be shocked if the Fiesta ST didn’t make it to production. With that kind of power and a l Until the announcement comes though check out our gallery of Ford’s performance baby below.

Related posts:

Report Says Ford Fiesta ST in the Works for 2012

Frankfurt: Ford Focus ST Arrives, Sticks Close To Concept

Ford exploits Mexican stereotypes, Eric Estrada to market 2011 Fiesta

Automoblog.net - A Car Blog for Auto Enthusiasts

Tailgate Tailoring: 2011 SEMA Show Trucks

Car Design

Car News

Chevy

Concept Cars

Ford

Ram

SEMA

Toyota

2011 SEMA Show

chevrolet silverado

chevy pickup

concept truck

ford f-150

ford pickup

off road trucks

Ram 392

Ram Quick Silver

Ram truck

SEMA Show

show truck

Toyota Tacoma TRD T|X Baja Series

truck

An exhibition of big horsepower, big creativity and big enthusiasm in an attempt to lure registered visitors to the 2011 SEMA Show, compact, muscle as well as exotic cars are modded to varying themes. Making its debut at the 2011 SEMA Show, the Toyota Tacoma TRD T/X Baja Series is a fully capable off-roading truck available through the 4X4 Access and Double Cab models. Starting with the V-6 powered models including the new Ecoboost-engined version, the Ford line-up is topped with the Super Duty class of work trucks. Established as a working vehicle for so long, the modern trend for urbanizing full-sized pickup trucks, customization has led to creations like the CGS Performance Products 2011 Ford F-150 to surface. Showcasing CGS Performance Products cat-back exhaust and cold-air intake technology, the SEMA show truck (called the “Tarmac” F-150) features an extensive array of modifications. Adding to the performance department, a Whipple twin-screw supercharger spins alongside the CGS Performance Products equipment.

An aluminum hood, Colorado Custom wheels as well as Paramount Restyling grille decorates the exterior covered in Dupont black and Boyd Red paint. A collective effort involving popular outdoor company Realtree, customized pickup truck features extreme four-wheel drive capability. Wearing exclusive graphics promoting the outdoor theme, the Silverado Realtree is painted with a Champagne Silver Metallic colour. Exterior modifications exercised on the Silverado Realtree Concept include a front bumper with winch and a custom rear cap. General Motor’s 6.6 liter Duramax turbodiesel engine 765 pounds-feet of torque powers the Silverado Realtree Concept through the four-wheel drivetrain ushering massive 35-inch tires surrounding 18-inch wheels.

The Chevrolet Silverado interior for the Realtree features Dark Cocoa leather decked with camouflage and bright orange accentuations. Though the Realtree Concept version of the Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD sports a lot of grit, there is some civility in place to improve occupants’ entry and exit. Borrowing some styling inspiration from the Dodge Charger SRT8, the Ram 392 Quick Silver receives a bulging aluminum hood incorporating working heat extractors. Over the truck’s box, a tonneau cover with an integrated spoiler gives the sport truck a better aerodynamic profile. Three-stage bright silver, with exception to gloss black colour treatment to the pickup‘s roof, solidifies the Ram 392 Quick Silver nameplate. The employment of a Mopar body kit and body-colour matching Brembo brake calipers add a street sporty look delighting tarmac runners (at the expense of a few off-roader). Serving as a contrast to the monochrome look, anodized red paint is applied to the Ram 392 Quick Silver’s 22-inch wheels, side mirrors as well as on the front grille inserts. The entire Ram 392 Quick Silver concept rides 2 inches lower than the Ram R/T truck thanks to a custom suspension further articulating the low profile appearance created by the Mopar body kit.

The regular cab interior compartment of the Ram 392 Quick Silver is loaded with comfort as well as performance of another kind. Katzkin leather SRT seats with red stitching is the centerpiece of the heavily leather cabin that also includes premium floor mats and Mopar’s pedal kit. As for performance other than the 470-horsepower under the hood of the Ram 392 Quick Silver, a Kicker speaker set including tweeters, mids and woofers pump the small interior space with some serious beats.

Information and photo source: Chrysler Group, Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Toyota Motor Corporation

Related posts:

Factory Custom Chevy Camaros at 2011 SEMA Show

Focus (Ford Focus) Comes to 2011 Edition SEMA Show

Camaros Dominate the 2011 SEMA Show

Automoblog.net - A Car Blog for Auto Enthusiasts

Dodge Challenger SRT8 ACR Debuts at 2011 SEMA Show

Car Design

Car News

Chrysler

Concept Cars

Dodge

Racing

SEMA

Challenger

Dodge Challenger

Dodge Challenger SRT8 ACR

Mopar

SEMA 2011

SEMA Las Vegas

Sema Show Car

SRT ACR

Recognized as the ACR and American Club Racer line, this racing-suited Chrysler model was first adopted by the compact Neon cars in 1995 and sparred a popular, modern take on sport vehicles. Catered to more track-like handling characteristics, the ACR package was targeted for unleashing Mopar action in competition. The ACR moniker was largely replaced by the SRT badging during the mid-2000s for much of the Dodge line-up. One vehicle that continued offering an ACR version was the Dodge Viper first introduced in 1999.

While the Dodge Viper’s production is on hiatus as Chrysler puts focus on their core vehicles, the automaker is still demonstrating pride for their supercar as recent as last month. Sending a 2010 Dodge Viper SRT-10 ACR to the Nurburgring, Chrysler’s SRT division stormed around the 12.9-mile Nordschleife circuit in 7 minutes and 12.13 seconds. On September 14th, the Dodge Viper SRT-10 ACR became the 4th fastest production car to lap the German Nurburgring track. In anticipation that the ACR badge could again ride high in the world rankings, the 2011 SEMA Show in Las Vegas presents Dodge’s current leading performance machine, the Dodge Challenger SRT8 392, in ACR trim.

A product of Chrysler’s Mopar underground team, the Dodge Challenger SRT8 ACR resurfaces the notion of a serious muscle car that roamed roads in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Especially in an era where GPS units and Bluetooth connectivity is typical phrases mentioned in modern automotive feature listings, the special Dodge Challenger SRT8 ACR is completely invested in speed enhancements.

Expanding on creativity shown on the Mopar’s Drag Pak version of the Dodge Challenger, the white and charcoal black Challenger SRT8 ACR is the latest figure of the Chrysler company’s performance drive. Mirroring the Dodge Viper SRT-10 ACR version, the exterior look is coupled with a flame red stripe traveling along the driver-side length of the vehicle. A carbon fiber hood, Mopar front splitter and a special fuel door is mounted on the Dodge Challenger SRT8 ACR concept heightening the car’s track potential.

Employing front and rear strut braces in concert with a coil-over suspension package, the Dodge Challenger ACR’s ride is calibrated for aggressive driving. Streaking the race tracks with Goodyear F1 Supercar tires (similar to those employed on the Challenger SRT8 392 main rival the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1), the black-painted 20-inch alloy wheels guides the modified Dodge pony car. With changes to improve the mechanical grip of the Dodge Challenger, the ACR 470-horsepower, 6.4 liter V-8 engine does not boast any great increases in overall power. The only engine-related modification Mopar made to the Dodge Challenger SRT8 ACR is the additional of a cat-back exhaust system and custom headers.

Amongst a cabin of carbon fiber, the Dodge Challenger SRT8 ACR is most essentially a racing vehicle inside. Deleting the rear seat, adding racing-quality safety harnesses to performance bucket seats, other track-ready equipment on the Challenger SRT8 ACR includes a fire extinguisher and roll bar for extra body stiffness. Not without its charm, exterior styling colouring is continued to the interior of the Dodge Challenger SRT8 ACR as red and white joins the carbon fiber appearance. Seated firmly in the Dodge Challenger ART8 ACR‘s Katzkin leather, the driver handles a short-throw shifter assembly.

Part of Chrysler’s 28,400 square-foot display at the Las Vegas Convention Center, the Dodge Challenger SRT8 ACR show car is another projection for how automakers can envision their vehicles in different realities.

Information and photo source: Chrysler Group

Related posts:

2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 Receives HEMI 392

SEMA 2008: Dodge brings a Viper powered Challenger

Dodge Shows us the 2008 Challenger SRT8

Automoblog.net - A Car Blog for Auto Enthusiasts

Factory Custom Chevy Camaros at 2011 SEMA Show

Car Design

Car News

Chevy

Concept Cars

Gallery

SEMA

Camaro

Camaro 1LE Concept

Camaro Convertible

Camaro SEMA

Camaro SS

Camaro Synergy

Camaro ZL1

Chevrolet

chevrolet camaro

SEMA 2011

SEMA Show

Sema Show Car

ZL1 Carbon

Coinciding with the first generation Chevrolet Camaro, the SEMA Show was launched in the late 1960s as a modest showcase of the best automotive performance and modification technology. As the SEMA Show has exploded to a multi-day trade exhibition, American performance cars like the Camaro have been given a place to shine in an environment largely shielded from pressing real world transportation scenarios.

With the legend of the Camaro returning after an extended hiatus in 2009, a brand new generation of General Motors pony cars brings the best of American motoring with the innovations of the 21st century. Acting like a long-running honeymoon, Chevrolet continues to celebrate the new Camaro two years after its reintroduction with five new SEMA Show concept cars.

Camaro Synergy Series Concept

Taking over the personality of the RS and SS package, the Synergy version of the Chevrolet Camaro combines an ample amount of flash with dash. Presented with a Silver Ice exterior complemented with black accent trim, the Camaro Synergy Series Concept receives outer enhancements care of Chevrolet Accessories with body colour ground effects and 21-inch wheels. Synergy decals are worn on the Chevrolet Camaro sitting closer to the ground thanks to a Pedders lowering suspension. Black leather seating with red secondary colouring, the Camaro Synergy Series Concept’s interior scheme is rich with Chevrolet Accessories charm including specialized floor mats, lighting and pedal kit. Stitched in red thread, the Hurst short-throw shifter is a centerpiece in the Camaro Synergy’s cabin.

Chevrolet hints that favourable reception of the Camaro Synergy Series Concept at SEMA could make it onto a production car.

Camaro 1LE Concept

Everybody in the land of Camaro is waiting for the ZL1 with many knowing the 580-horsepower super pony car could be out of reach. Pricing and production is guaranteed to keep many admirers at bay from the upcoming Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. In the Camaro 1LE Concept, Chevrolet has taken steps to create a non-ZL1 using many of the specialized components of the top 2012 production Camaro. A Victory Red vehicle with flat black hood and front fender markings, satin black details highlights the rear spoiler, front splitter and rocker panels. Another exterior enhancements employed on the Camaro 1LE Concept includes the ZL1 inspired active exhaust and rear diffuser assembly. Riding on the same Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tires as the Camaro ZL1 over Chevrolet officially licensed Brembo braking system, 20-inch lightweight wheels complete the aggressive outer coupe for the customized Camaro coupe. Mechanically enhanced with electric power steering, a close-ratio six-speed manual and the General Motors Magnetic Ride Control suspension system, the 1LE Concept edition of the pony car possesses a similar track manner as the Camaro ZL1.

ZL1 touches are also carried on the inside with stitched black leather seating and the flat-bottom steering wheel. Outfitter Chevrolet Accessories contributes pedal kit as well as a special red engine cover to complete the Camaro 1LE Concept.

Camaro Red Zone Concept

The Camaro Red Zone Concept combines a Crystal Claret paint with retro-themed white striping. A basis for many upgrade parts presented through Chevrolet Accessories, the vehicle‘s designer Adam Barry states “This is a Camaro for those who want great looks and a performance personality,”. The Camaro Red Zone Concept is tastefully equipped with polished silver 21-inch wheels along with a special grille and windscreen on the outside gives the convertible an attitude suited for low-speed cruising through beachside streets. A suspension lowering kit supplied by Pedders provides an officially licensed improvement to the Camaro Convertible’s stance with the Red Zone Concept. A Titanium colour leather interior is joined with Silver Ice inserts.

Camaro ZL1 Carbon Concept

<script type="text/javascript"

Expressing itself with a much more robust use of carbon fiber exterior pieces, the Ashen Gray Camaro ZL1 Carbon SEMA show car wears a “Mohawk” hood insert. A carbon fiber rear spoiler with a stainless steel wicker bill (also called a Gurney flip in auto racing circles); a set of satin black 20-inche wheels concludes the exterior presentation of the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Carbon Concept as a cool way to accent a hot ride. Carbon fiber trim within the door panels and instrument panel inside carries on the unique Camaro’s theme of highlighting the racing-oriented, lightweight material. A touch of suede is added to the surfaces of the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Carbon Concept’s seating, steering wheel and shifter for the final touches of race feel.

Camaro Hot Wheels Concept

Created as a tribute to the most famous die-cast car line in the world, Chevrolet is preparing to display a metallic green Chevrolet Camaro SS at the 2011 SEMA Show. src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">

Continuing down their road to recovery following the natural disaster that amounted in the sad loss of over 15,000 Japanese citizen, the spirit to endure from the troubles have seen industrial production return, stabilizing the traumatic experiences of millions. In only a month, many of the Japanese auto plants were operational again with at least some production.

Upcoming in December, the Japanese auto industry will have a moment to shed light on the greatness in their vehicle culture and technology with the biennial Tokyo Motor Show. Always a showcase for creative designs and high-tech innovations, the 2011 edition of the car exhibition will count upon the country’s major automotive companies to refresh some optimism in the population.

Mazda Motor Corporation is one automaker ready to demonstrate there is indeed brightness in the ‘Land of the Rising Sun’. Showing off their Mazda CX-5 in the brand’s home country for the first time, the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show will perform the world debut of a concept car indicating direction for the next mid-sized sedan. The TAKERI concept embodies the two leading philosophies Mazda is touting as the future for their auto brand.

A concept car assimilating a good deal of production car characteristics, the Mazda TAKERI four-door sedan is said by the auto company “to bring a new level of strength and allure to sedan styling.” The latest vehicle to be crafted on the ‘KODO-Soul of Motion’ design language, loud tones of the Mazda SHINARI concept are telegraphed through the shapely sheet metal of the TAKERI sedan. Like the SHINARI, the front end features a large, upright grille opening complemented with a chrome accent sailing under and towards the headlamp housings. At the rear end of the concept vehicle, the Mazda TAKERI formulates a near fastback profile for what is likely superior aerodynamic balancing.

An elegant use of curves achieves a classically refined yet sporty appearance for the Mazda TAKERI concept which is said to provide a “comfortable ride feel”. While specific details are not provided on the interior accommodations, images of the Mazda TAKERI cabin leaves expectations of enviable comfort a real possibility.

First time being exhibited by Mazda, the TAKERI concept is a regenerative braking system designed to recycle kinetic energy into electrical energy. While the TAKERI is not a hybrid, the electrical energy will be channelled back into vehicle’s electric-powered systems. With the surge of energy into the electrical hardware, the engine will be less burdened to produce the electric power thereby allowing the engine to run with more efficiency. The powerplant attached to the Mazda TAKERI concept car is a diesel version of the engine using SkyActiv technology. The SkyActiv-D engine is a highly efficient, clean diesel powerplant likely to deliver outstanding fuel economy when combined with the benefits from Mazda’s regenerative braking.

Along with the SkyActiv technology undertaking, Mazda says the latest TAKERI concept is part of a three-step “Building Block Strategy” for electrically based fuel savings. With step one being stop/start technology and the second being regenerative braking, the TAKERI possesses two of Mazda’s Building Block Strategy. An evolution especially important as the automobile progressed, vehicle lighting has taken strides in becoming brighter and more efficient. At first existing as clumsy lanterns, electric lighting quickly emerged in the time of the motor vehicle reach global acceptance. From tungsten to halogen headlight bulbs, the recent phase apparent is HID (High Intensity Discharge) which uses xenon gas to bring a near perfect white light to the road at about one-third of the power needed for a halogen setup. However, as HID headlamps are coming of age, a new challenge coming from full LED lighting systems (equipped on the Audi A8). Appearing that a competition between HID and LED headlamps is now foreseen on the horizon, a future automotive lighting solution could be found in lasers.

Sounding like something from a space fiction movie, two auto companies ahead of the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show flooded the idea of super-powered vehicle lighting. BMW as well as Audi debuted concept cars expressing, among many potential design and technology themes, laser-based lighting.

Creating a more stir with their BMW i division, the Stuttgart-based automotive powerhouse BMW brought the upcoming brand’s concept vehicles to Frankfurt exhibition. Displaying the i3 and i8 concept cars, the latter BMW design incorporates the shining innovation of laser diode headlamps. Embodied in a styling reminiscent of BMW design DNA and the new electrified vehicle image the German auto manufacturer seeks to advertise, the laser lights projected a blue aura of 1700 lumens. While producing a light as much as a thousand times brighter than a LED, the BMW i8 Concept’s laser headlamp layout claims to operate with under one-half the energy of a comparable LED setup.

While the BMW i concept car lured much of the attention by projecting a future where laser diodes will be trusted upon for primary lighting, Audi’s A2 Concept also presented the advantages of laser illumination. Part of the electrified concept car’s comprehensive range of lighting, the Audi A2 show vehicle features a rear fog light consisting of laser diodes. Perhaps lost in the flowing arrangement of LEDs on the Audi concept car, the red triangle lit by laser-produced was promoted as a powerful warning light for following vehicles.

In concept form on the BMW i8 and Audi A2 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the first major automotive display of laser lighting could pose a road to production that far exceeds the projection of brightness. A major task guaranteeing the widespread application of laser diode lighting rests in calming public perception behind this particular kind of artificially generated light. The reckless uses of certain lasers have made fears the radical headlight beams can cause harm to those exposed. On the system exhibited on the BMW i8 Concept, the auto company quickly pacifies safety concerns by insuring that the pure laser light is not emitted from the headlight system. When the laser light is created, a fluorescent phosphor material processes the brightness into a safe, usable light for the road.

Another challenge in the United States has been the relatively slow adaptation of new technology compared to other world markets. As Asian and European countries allowed the aerodynamic glass and plastic covering over headlights since the 1960s, United States automotive safety bodies rejected the intentions to bring the more stylistic illumination solution. It was not until 1983 when the US Department of Transportation finally permitted automakers to depart from the traditional sealed beam light bulbs. Later in 1997, the first American car to feature HID headlights was Lincoln Mark VIII came 7 years after BMW’s debut of the lighting solution on European 7 Series.

Converting dark into light, the importance of recognizing the best in automotive illumination will ultimately favour the everyday motorist once the conceptual stage is traveled. It will be seen if laser diode lighting will throw light on the roadways of the future.

Information and photo source: Audi AG, BMW

Related posts:

Look Who’s Talking: An Automotive Safety Future

Popular Automotive-Related Mobile Apps

Frankfurt: Audi Releases New Images of A2 Concept

Automoblog.net - A Car Blog for Auto Enthusiasts

Opel’s High Efficiency RAK e Concept Debuts at Frankfurt

Car News

Concept Cars

Electric

Frankfurt Motor Show

GM

Opel

2011 frankfurt

concept car

electric car

Opel RAK e

Opel RAK e Concept

RAK e

The oldest industrial brand name in the General Motors portfolio, German’s Opel division started as a sewing machine manufacturer in 1862. src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">

The oldest industrial brand name in the General Motors portfolio, German’s Opel division started as a sewing machine manufacturer in 1862. Evolving to the production of bicycles soon later, Opel’s presence in wheeled transportation would turn to automobiles for the first time since 1899. At the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, Opel’s roots for their adventurous climb into the auto industry debuts in the ultra-modern RAK e Concept.

Before Opel integrated with General Motors in 1928, the Germany car manufacturer captivated press and potential customers through the performances of experimental rocket -driven car. Called the Opel RAK, streamlined shapes and the solid-fuel rocket propulsion demonstrated a radical exercise in alternative automotive power. The Opel RAK 2 example of the rocket car achieved 143 miles per hour on four wheels. Developed 83 years after the successful RAK 2 demonstrations, the Opel RAK e Concept projects excellence in electric car technology.

As an experimental design and technical platform, the Opel RAK e Concept resembles a vehicle from the latest Tron movie. Not consisting of pixels and paragons, the Opel RAK e Concept is a narrow four-wheeler built around a steel space frame. Said to incorporate affordable materials rather than expensive, exotic products in construction, the Opel RAK e is a lightweight vehicle presented with a minimal profile. Carefully packaged, braking and power systems are designed to maximize the cozy concept car. The vehicle rides on relatively skinny low-rolling resistance tires.

Small and light overall, propulsion needs for the Opel RAK e Concept is exhibited as quite modest. An electric-powered vehicle, the Opel RAK e Concept offers a maximum power output of 36.5 kilowatts. Drawing power from a 5-kilowatt hour battery, a top travel distance of 100 kilometers (62 miles) is possible on the Opel RAK e Concept immediately following a three-hour charge. Opel advertises the RAK e Concept’s being supplied from a 5 square meter, 500-watt solar panel for minimized environmental impact. According to the German auto company’s estimates, the Opel RAK e Concept can realize 100 kilometers of travel at a cost of one euro (the equivalent of $1.36 in American funds).

Seating a driver and passenger in a tandem-style, the Opel RAK e Concept enclosed cabin has active chassis components visible to the riders. The unusual two-seat set-up inside the Opel RAK e Concept preserves enough roominess to provide all the amenities modern travelers expect in a vehicle. One advantage for the narrow tandem cockpit set-up is unhindered vision ahead and alongside the driver. Custom fitting to the driver, the RAK e Concept features a completely adjustable steering wheel and foot pedals. Infotainment system as well as climate controls can also be found inside of the RAK e Concept collected into convenient displays.

The Opel RAK e joins the Audi urban concept and the slightly larger BMW i line-up as electrified compacts presented at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show. With drivers in parts of Europe paying as much as twice the equivalent for the same amount of gasoline as United States territories, the motivation to consider smaller electric cars could simply be enough to provoke a production variant of the Opel RAK e.

Information and photo source: General Motors

Related posts:

Frankfurt: Audi Releases New Images of A2 Concept

Surfs Up: Fisker Debuts Surf Shooting Brake at Frankfurt

Cool Cat: Jaguar Unleashes C-X16 Concept at Frankfurt

Automoblog.net - A Car Blog for Auto Enthusiasts
