GeigerCars Chevy Camaro SS Compressor

Geiger Chevy Camaro SS Compressor

In general, American tuning companies stick to American cars (Saleen, Callaway,) Europeans stick to European cars (Hamann, Novitec, Edo,) and Asians stick to Asian cars (HKS, Strosek.)

GeigerCars, however, is a German tuning company that modifies mostly American cars. Once they’re out of the Geiger showroom, there is an obvious German touch to the project. The 2010 Geiger Chevy Camaro SS Compressor is no different. The tuners took a new Camaro SS and added their own touch…what have they come up with? Continue Reading…

2010 Chevrolet Camaro 2LT RS V6 Review

camaro-4.jpg

Here it is, the one vehicle everyone has been waiting for: the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro.

This single vehicle is not only the most important vehicle to come out of General Motors this year, but the most important vehicle to come from an American-based car company. Why? Because this is the car the entire country has been pining for since the concept car was first displayed in 2006. It’s the one everyone wants to drive.

It is also the car that is bringing rear-wheel drive performance back to the mainstream GM brand, and mainstream America.

I was fortunate enough to receive this test car, a deep blue 2LT V6 RS automatic, in late June on a stroke of luck, as a cancellation in the car’s schedule opened up a chance to be one of the first to have a brand new Camaro in central Ohio. After putting over 400 miles on the odometer in a week, I decided to share my good luck with a few fellow Camaro enthusiasts for an, to see what they think. After all, this car was revived for them. Here’s what they think. Continue Reading…

Chevrolet Volt To Get 230 MPG Around Town

chevyvolt.jpg

Dear God, is GM serious? 230 MPG for the upcoming Volt in city mileage? Yes, I know, figuring out the miles per “gallon” for a hybrid, especially in the hotly debated “city cycle” portion of its operating realm is tricky. And it’s even trickier for the Volt, due to the drivetrain layout, but … shoot, even if GM is half right about this, the equivalent of 115 around town will be impressive enough … but 230? Talk about throwing down the gauntlet.

2010 Chevy Camaro Transformers Edition

2010 Chevy Camaro Transformers Edition

Did you see this coming? I totally saw this coming. Chevy just announced that they will be offering a special edition version of the 2010 Camaro based off of Bumblebee from the excellent Transformers movie series. GM sponsored the hell out of this movie, and all the Autobots (the good guys) are GM products. The yellow with black stripes 2010 Camaro is the star of the movie, and really gathered some positive attention. It only makes sense to make a Transformers-themed Camaro.

Chevy had tons of potential customers asking for the “Bumblebee Camaro,” so I don’t see sales being too bad for the special edition. Whether or not fans of Transformers are the right demographic for the muscle car is yet to be seen, but the cool factor here is through the roof. Continue Reading…

Hennessey Z700 Corvette ZR1 - a 705 hp Vette

Hennessey Z700 Corvette ZR1

The Corvette ZR1 has been widely acclaimed as the ultimate Corvette - the fastest, loudest, meanest Vette to hit the streets. With 638 horsepower under the hood, this uber-Vette competes with the likes of Ferrari and Lamborghini for a fraction of the price. This truly is the ultimate American sports car.

If that’s still not good enough for you, consider calling up Hennessey Performance. They’ve developed an upgrade package for the 2010 Corvette ZR1 that boosts power to an incredible 705 hp, among other modifications. Keep reading for more… Continue Reading…

Forget the Z28 - Hennessey Releases the HPE550 Camaro

Hennessey HPE550 Camaro

Hennessey Performance Engineering, the American tuning company responsible for producing insanely fast cars (like a Dodge Viper that runs rings around a Bugatti Veyron,) has created another beast - the 2010 HPE550 Camaro. While not as powerful as the HPE700 Camaro announced earlier this year, the HPE550 eases the pain of those who were looking forward to the top-of-the-line Chevy Camaro Z28 which may or may not be built.

The HPE550 Camaro produces a hearty 562 hp via a supercharger mounted on top of the 6.2-liter V8 from the Camaro SS. Since the stock SS produces “only” 426 hp, the supercharger system adds an incredible 136 hp and 137 lb-ft of torque with only 6 psi of boost pressure. In addition to the power upgrade, the HPE550 will include a set of lightweight 20-inch wheels, an adjustable coilover suspension, embroidered headrests, and a Hennessey-branded graphics package for the exterior. 0-60 mph happens in 4.1 seconds and the quarter mile is over in 12.1 seconds at 119 mph.
