2009 Cadillac XLR and XLR-V

xlr-v-2.jpg
(All pics shown are of the XLR-V)

Cadillac’s XLR is an expensive, high-class roadster, but it has never been as popular as the BMWs and Benzes in the same price range. This is mostly due to the fact that Cadillac has the same image as Buick, that is, made for an older generation. Well, Cadillac blew that image out the window with its new CTS, which is a sophisticated, elegant, and sharp car. For 2009, Cadillac is hoping to change what people think of the XLR as well.

First, some background info on the XLR.

It started life as the Evoq concept, but the production car didn’t look as good. The XLR also has a V-series model, and it is the current most expensive, fastest, and most powerful car Cadillac has made. Though it isn’t as popular as the BMWs and Benzes, it is the overall best in terms of its balance of style, performance, and comfort. Continue Reading…

556 Horsepower, Beastly 0-60 Acceleration of 3.9 Seconds, 191 mph Top Speed, All In A… WTF… A Cadillac?

maz42.jpg

Ah yes. Luxurious performance sedans. The cars for those who want power mixed with luxury, and got the dough to get it.

These include the haloed brands of BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Lexus, and soon to come…Cadillac.

The above names are almost legend among performance sedan aficionados, well, the first two are. BMWs “M” series and Merc’s AMG have been hot-blooded contestants ever since their conception. Audi has their RS 4. Lexus made their debut into this category with their “F” series, but BMW and Mercedes have pretty much got this segment bagged. Then along comes Cadillac to wreck the party.

Now, Cadillac has never done well in the performance sedan category, and the first generation CTS-V pretty much failed against the likes of BMW and Mercedes. But from what I see about the new CTS-V, I think that this time, they’re actually gonna do quite well. Not only does the CTS-V look a lot better this time around, but it also is the fastest and most powerful sedan to ever come from an American manufacturer, and check this out: it just may be the fastest sedan in history. Fourth of July Special: Cars That Make Me Proud To Be An American

american-1.jpg

Happy Fourth of July to all you car buffs out there!

Since the Fourth of July is a celebration of America and all things American (except maybe gas prices), I’ve put together this little Fourth of July Special, an article dedicated to all American cars. I actually got the idea from Car and Driver, and you can see their article here. Anyway, this is compromised of what I believe are the current finest examples of the American automobile. Not all are in production, but those that aren’t will be. I chose these cars because they herald the new “era” of the Big Three, , who are just beginning to make cars that you actually want. So if you’re a car buff and you love your country, this might just make you proud to be an American again, and just in time for the Fourth of July. And if you aren’t American, these cars might just make you wish you were.

You might not agree with all the choices, and if there is a car you disagree with or if there is one you think should be on the list, any and all comments are welcome. Keep in mind that this is just my opinion of cars that have that good ol’ American feel— and make me proud to be an American. Continue Reading…

Cadillac’s Bright Future

cad3.jpg

GM has spent a lot of time and energy into the new Cadillac CTS, and from the looks of things, it has payed off. The CTS sedan has reinstated Cadillac as a contender among the top sport luxury brands, which include BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, and Infiniti. Now, however, there is an even better car, the 2009 Cadillac CTS Coupe.

The CTS Coupe is a stunning, sexy, machine. It takes everything that is good from the CTS sedan and makes it better. The sharp, futuristic styling embodies Cadillac’s motto of Art and Science. Hopefully, Cadillac will make this concept into production with no changes, since it looks so good. It has the same edgy look as Cadillac’s Cien, as well as the luxury/prestige look of the Sixteen concept. The sensational styling also recalls bygone days, days when style and design were everything, and among the luxury brands, Cadillac was king. Continue Reading…

A Look Back: Cadillac Cien Concept

Cadillac Cien Side Front

Officially unveiled at the 2002 Detroit Auto Show, the Cadillac Cien is a breathtaking concept powered by a 7.5 L V12 Northstar XV12 engine, which produces 750 hp and 450 lb/ft of torque. The engine featured direct injection and Displacement on Demand, which would shut down up to 6 cylinders under lighter load for fuel economy’s sake. The Cien is fitted with an F-1 style semi-automatic transmission.

To say the least, the Cien is extraordinary looking, and the design is based on the F-22 Raptor Stealth Fighter Jet. Electronically controlled air inlets and outlets are integrated into the Cien’s body side. These active vents open and close as required for cooling, similar to the Lamborghini Murcielago’s vents. Air is directed to the V12 engine via intakes beneath the two sail panels. The blue glass covering the Cien was inspired by sport performance eye-wear, giving the vehicle a more high-tech look. The Cien also has an active spoiler that raises and lowers, depending on the speed on the vehicle. The wheels are 19 inches in the front and 21 inches in the rear, which look very good on the car without giving it the “Dubz” feeling. Continue on for the rest of the article…
