First Electric MINI Delivered

Elecrtric MINI

It looks like BMW was serious about not only building an electric version of its MINI (all caps, and boy is that lame), but they’re also serious about actually selling the things. Not that there’s anything wrong with these ideas at all, just ask Peter Trepp of Pacific Palisades California, because he’s the first guy in the country to get one.

Other MINI customers in Los Angeles, New York and New Jersey will take delivery of MINI Es by the end of June, but Peter Trepp is the lucky #1 when it comes to this car.

So what sort of person do you think would be the kind of guy that would jump through all the various hoops to actually get a MINI E (and you know that getting one of these quiet little runabouts wasn’t like going to the store to pick up a loaf of bread)? Continue Reading…

BMW Celebrates 75 Years Of Roadsters

P0023358.JPG

So it turns out that BMW has been building roadsters for 75 years, and has decided to celebrate (who wouldn’t?) and has turned their PR machine loose on the subject. 75 years s a long time to be at anything, especially making cars of a given type, and it’s worth marking the occasion. Funny thing is, when you say ‘BMW’, roadster isn’t the first thing I think of.

HAMANN BMW 7-Series

HAMANN BMW 7 front.jpg

HAMANN, a German tuner long associated with BMW and all things efficient, Teutonic and powerful (although they never say why their name is in all caps like that), has just released the details on their latest working over of BMW’s 7 series flagship. HAMANN calls it ” Individualisation on the highest level”, but if you want it shortened to just three words it would be “Power. Power. Power.”

The New BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo

P90047035.jpg

A unique blend of style, space, luxury and sportiness, or at least that’s what BMW says. And apart from the styling, who am I to argue? Essentially the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo is what is loosely termed a “crossover vehicle” these days. It’s like an SUV, only more like a station wagon, so I guess that’s a style.

The New BMW Z4 Bows

P90047268.jpg

BMW’s revamped and revised Z4 convertible has just hit the press. It offers a host of new features, but sadly, retains a lot of the same old styling cues as the previous model. But no matter how you look at it, it’s a much better car than the Z3, and styling notwithstanding, is a serious performer.

Supercar Sensation Review - Drive 3 Supercars for $300

Supercar Sensation

You’re probably familiar with supercar tours by now, which include World Class Driving, Road & Track Live, and Gotham Dream Cars. These tours let you and a small group of people take some of the wildest supercars on the road for a drive. Most of these tours travel across the US, and some travel overseas. The problem with these tours is that they range from $1500 to $6400. While this may be a fair deal for a once-in-a-lifetime experience, it’s out of most people’s price range. What most people don’t know is that there are some smaller but similar supercar tours, and they can be much easier on your wallet.

We recently had a chance to meet up with one of those groups based out of Charlotte, NC called Supercar Sensation. Started just last year, Supercar Sensation gets you into seven different supercars starting at only $200 - a much more affordable option for most. But are you going to get the same experience as the more expensive options? While it may be less expensive, could it be a lesser value than the rest? Continue Reading…
