Top Gear’s Richard Hammond takes this beauty out for a road test. For a little background:
The KZ1 was originally conceived following on from the successes of Team Ascari. The idea was proposed for a road-going sports car based on racing technology. In the spring of 2000, that concept began to take shape in the form of the prototype KZ1. Now completed, the Ascari KZ1 has been transformed from a dream to a production reality.
Sadly enough, only 50 of these will be made, making it yet another car I’ll never own. The Ascari KZ1 is powered by an incredible naturally-aspirated 5.0 L V8 pushing 500 hp and 369 lb/ft of torque to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. The carbon fiber monocoque structure and aerodynamic drag coefficient (CD) ratio of 0.35 helps rocket this car to 200 mph.
