The 1972 Plymouth Trouble Shooting
Finals, where 109 two-man teams
of high-school and post-high-school
students were each assigned a Plymouth
Duster with any number of prearranged
problems, from plugged carb jets to
disconnected wires. The car was to be
diagnosed, fixed, and tuned up. The
team that did so fastest with the least
amount of penalty points won. That
team was Louie S. Norwood and Richard
M. Jones, a couple of 17-year-olds from
Monterey Park, California. Properly
tuned cars in good working order
get better gas mileage and emit less
pollution. Archives/TEN: The Enthusiast
