Ford Introduces Special Service F-150

Ford is offering a Special Service Vehicle package on the F-150 to better meet the needs of law enforcement. The package comes in both 4×4 and 4×2, along with the 5.0-liter V8 or 3.5-liter EcoBoost. It will be available in the XL trim for either SuperCrew or SuperCab configurations.

The Special Service Vehicle package is also useful for government entities, road side assistance providers, and other fleet customers, although law enforcement will make up the largest portion. Ford has a dedicated lineup for law enforcement.

“We offer a whole family of police vehicles,” said Arie Groeneveld, Ford Chief Program Engineer for police vehicles.

Law enforcement trucks with the Special Service Vehicle package feature an easier to clean vinyl floor, versus traditional carpeting. The rear seat is also replaced in favor of a vinyl bench. Standard 40/20/40 seats are replaced with 40/blank/40 seats, with the center section deleted to create more space for customization and storage. A high-output 240-amp alternator replaces the stock unit to accommodate for longer idle times.

“Our lineup aims to fulfill the unique needs of law enforcement officers, and our F-150 Special Service Vehicle is an extension of that offering,” Groeneveld said.

In addition to the F-150, the Special Service Vehicle package is also offered on the Expedition. Other Ford law enforcement vehicles include the Police Interceptor, Special Service Police Sedan, and Transit Prisoner Transport Vehicle.
