With only 12 shopping days remaining ahead of Christmas 2013, have you decided what you are going to get that car enthusiast in your life? Maybe you are a car fan simply looking for some charming treat yourself with this holiday season. Whatever the case, would like to introduce you to a compilation of unique automotive themed gift ideas. The kick off a dozen days of suggested car-related decadence, I would introduce you to a favourite of mine based on my favourite car-related television series.

The good folks at Hallmark have created some awesome ornaments over the past number of years based on automobiles. Their collection of 2013 ornaments contained one vehicle replica that I simply could not resist buying. Based on a black Pontiac Firebird Trans Am that served as the platform of the Knight Industries Two Thousand (known better as K.I.T.T.), fans of the 1980s television series Knight Rider now has a new item to add to their collection.

KITT Knight Rider ornament

Roughly at 1/40th scale, Hallmark’s K.I.T.T. Keepsake Ornament handcrafted by Orville Wilson is a great recreation of the super-intelligent car wheeled by Michael Knight for the Foundation for Law and Government. Even the “Knight” state of California vanity plate is accurately created on the rear bumper. Part of the Hallmark Magic ornament collection offering more than just a hanging decoration, the K.I.T.T. replica presents breathtaking two traits. First, the red scanner bar is brought to life at a press of a button (found at the location of a fuel filler cap) motioning just like the television car. Activation of the scanner light will also bring the second novel attribute to the Hallmark K.I.T.T. Keepsake Ornament. The voice of K.I.T.T. introduces itself provided by William Daniels or at least it sounds exactly like Daniels. Just like his participation in the original television series, Daniels name is not being directly credited on the packaging of the K.I.T.T. Keepsake Ornament. In any case, the lights and sounds of the ornament will definitively Turbo Boost this item onto the wish list of followers for this popular crime-fighting vehicle.

The Hallmark website offers the K.I.T.T. Keepsake Ornament at $19.95 and is still in stock. Wanting it badly for myself, I needed to do a little hunting in Canada for mine finding it at the third Hallmark Gold Crown store I sought out. This is a gift that can be found insider the tree or on the tree. If Knight Rider is not your most appreciated four-wheeled vehicle, a 1955 Ford Fairlane Crown Victoria Skyliner, 1936 GMC Pickup and the Queen Family Truckster that hauled the Griswolds to Walley World in the National Lampoon’s Vacation movie is also available as 2013 Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments.
