Contest: Win a Top Gear Prize Pack from Automoblog.net

On Sunday, November 21, 2010, the long-awaited Top Gear America is debuting on the History Channel. Gearheads across the country will be glued to the couch as the three hosts – Comedian Adam Ferrara, rally and drift racer Tanner Foust, and racing analyst Rutledge Wood – take you through the American version of the show we’ve all been watching for years – Top Gear. Will the three hosts have the same chemistry and charisma as Clarkson, Hammond, and May? We’ll have to watch the premiere on the 21st to find out, but it will be nice to have a car show like this that is more relevant to America.

That’s why Top Gear and Automoblog.net teamed up for a new contest – one that can bag you a Top Gear Prize Pack valued at $200. Want more details? Check out the contest description provided by HISTORY:

About The Author

I founded Automoblog.net in May of 2006 to share my love of cars. My favorites include the Lamborghini Diablo 6.0 VT and Koenigsegg CCX, and I think the Ferrari 360 Spider is still one of the sexiest cars in existence. For “normal” cars, I like imports - Nissan, Audi, Subaru... I love my Pearl Yellow (don't judge) 1990 Nissan 300ZX TT and plan to get it to around 550 HP one day. I'm also an avid world traveler and love rock climbing.

I think the only way TGA can be successful is if it doesn't try to be exactly like the British original. If the hosts and writers can establish their own style of humor and presentation instead of copying Jezza and crew, I think the show has a chance.

  2. Raeed

I think Topgear for America won’t have the same epicness as the British counterpart mostly because Jezza, Slow, and Hamster have a unique humour that no one else can master… but if TGAmerica does reviews on more likeable cars and not muscle cars, i would defintely record/ watch it

  3. Dan

I hope for the best with TGAmerica. Though I'm not too familiar with the hosts. The only one I've seen on anything recently is Foust on Speed Channel's Supercars Exposed and I'm not a fan of that show.

  4. Alvaro

I expect Top Gear America to be the ultimate racing show. Off course it will have to fight with the traditional Top Gear UK that everyone loves, and don’t commit the same mistake that Top Gear Australia make trying to imitate the show

  5. Bob F

    I'm a newsletter subscriber.

I'm a huge fan of the BBC version of Top Gear and am really looking forward to the History Channel version. However, I have my doubts that it is going to be as good….. I hope I'm wrong.

  6. Jeanne A

Happy you are trying this here. Producers, here is an idea for you, try a middle age female that knows speed. Your hosts have not gone 180 miles an hour before. I have. Needs chemistry with the hosts to be a hit. That is the gift of the BBC Top Gear. Those fellows know cars, they own cool cars, and have other interests that pull viewers into the fun. (James May getting to go into space for example).

I loke how the History channel took a blind leap into something that is extremely expensive and probably won't spark much interist. And I like Rutlege. He's cool. I wich Ken Block was on it and Adam Ferra or Tanner Foust was off. Or Pastrana. He's cool.

  8. Lou

Good first episode. The hosts seems to get along well – I hope they can develop the kind of rapport that makes the original Top Gear so entertaining.

  9. Jen

I signed up for the news letter and I tevo'ed top gear, I love the bbc version and the previews looked funny for this one so im excited to watch it, do they still have the course you drive at teh end of the show for famous guests?

  10. Attila

I'm kind of lukewarm on TGA at the moment. I think I need a few more episodes to get a concrete stance on the show. I'll make some time to watch more!

I subbed via newsletter as well!

  11. Candie L

We love the British version of Top Gear, but we think that the actors are the ones who make the show. So I hope they have good personalities on the American version. Thank you
