2010 Ultimate Track Car Challenge – July 23, 2010

The annual Grassroots Motorsports Ultimate Track Car Challenge is coming up soon and they’re calling for applicants. The invitation-only event is set to be held on July 23, 2010 at the Virginia International Raceway in Alton, VA. If you think your car is fast enough around a track, head over to the registration page at Cardomain and sign it up for consideration. CarDomain members vote on the cars as well, which do have an impact on your ability to participate (but it’s not the deciding factor.)

Some companies are stepping up and offering prizes to winners as well as discounts for all participants. HRE Wheels, for example, is giving away a $1000-off coupon to the top spot in each category, $750 for 2nd, and $500 for 3rd place. The coupons must be used for new HRE Wheels, of course. For those who are already running on HRE Wheels (and win the race while wearing them,) the company will give them $2500 cash for the overall winner and $1000 cash to the top spot in each respective category. They’re also offering a discount on their wheels for all participants in the UTCC.

Count on some more coverage from us on the UTCC, as we’ll be there covering it in July (not racing, sadly.)

***Update:

Looks like another UTCC sponsor, Red Line Oil, will have James Clay, owner and lead driver of the BimmerWorld Grand Am BMW team on site providing technical advice to UTCC participants on his home track. Registered participants of the event can contact Red Line about product discounts and advice to prepare for the race.

“We have a long-standing relationship with the Grassroots Motorsports, James and we appreciate all the hard work and dedication competitors put into their UTCC entries,” said Kelly Kerrigan, Red Line’s Director of Motorsports. “We want to help in any way we can, both through providing the best possible products and offering the help of a veteran driver at one of the most challenging tracks in the country. With Red Line guys like James Clay and Camaro-legend Mark Stielow entered with his latest project, it should be a lot of fun.”

Entries are still open, so if you’re interested in racing, get your ass over to the Grassroots UTCC site and sign up.
