2009 Automotive Superbowl Ads

2009 Superbowl XLIII logoSeems like most of the people I know watch the Superbowl not for the game, but for the commercials (we’re car guys, not football fans.) This year may have been a bit slow in terms of budgets, but there was no short of good commercials in Superbowl XLIII.

Budweiser had their usual share of funny ads, as did Pepsi, Doritos, GoDaddy, and Coke. But the automotive industry, despite their obvious problems recently, aired some commercials that are definitely worth mention. Hyundai was an official Superbowl sponsor this year, and aired a couple of ads for the amazing Genesis Coupe. Toyota aired a couple of ads for the new Venza, Audi aired their long-awaited ad for the supercharged A6, Bridgestone Tires aired a funny one, and Castrol showed an ad worth watching as well.

About The Author

I founded Automoblog.net in May of 2006 to share my love of cars. My favorites include the Lamborghini Diablo 6.0 VT and Koenigsegg CCX, and I think the Ferrari 360 Spider is still one of the sexiest cars in existence. For “normal” cars, I like imports - Nissan, Audi, Subaru... I love my Pearl Yellow (don't judge) 1990 Nissan 300ZX TT and plan to get it to around 550 HP one day. I'm also an avid world traveler and love rock climbing.

  1. seems like car ads dominated this year. I loved the Mr. Potato head one and the David Abernathy Cars.com one it had a Wes Anderson feel about it. Over all though it looks like car companies had the most money to spend.
