AH! Talk about form over function … what you see pictured above is the new for 2009 Fuoss 01 Track Car. Homely little wart, ain’t it?
Track cars are a very big sub market in Jolly Old England. every time I pick up a Britich car mag (and believe me, I pick up more than I should), there is always some mention of this track car or that track car. Essentially things like Caterham SuperLights and Airel Atoms and Radicals are looked upon as dedicated track cars (although I look at stuff like Caterham SuperLights and Airel Atoms as viable forms of everyday transportation but that’s just me).
Fuoss, whoever the hell they are, decided to jump into the fray with this little guy. Punted down the tarmac by a 40-hp, 400cc Suzuki motorcycle engine, the 660-pound one-seater is limited to 90 mph. That sounds more like a shifter cart than a dedicated track car … especially one that sells for €29,000.
That’s what, $40K?
For that kind of money, I could easily buy and race a new kart for a full season and still have money left over. I don’t get what they’re driving at with the Fuoss. Maybe if it looked better, but at the moment it looks like a hot-rodded wheelchair … and those headlights? What are THOSE for?
