2009 Breckland Beira – Part Corvette, Part Saturn Sky

Low-volume specialty automaker Breckland (the same guys that made the awesome Tommy Kaira ZZ) are beginning to deliver their new Beira this month. Starting with the GM Kappa platform used in the Saturn Sky and Pontiac Solstice, Breckland dropped in the 400 horsepower 6 liter V8 used in the Chevy Corvette.

The handbuilt-in-UK roadster was redesigned all over, and amplifies the aggressive styling of the Solstice and Sky. I can even see a little bit of Ferrari 355 meets Tesla Roadster in the rear styling:

With almost double the horsepower of the Solstice of which it’s based, the Beira underwent a significant amount of tuning to handle that power, both inside and out. The obvious extreme redesign was formed using lightweight composite materials, keeping the car under 3,100 lbs for an incredible power-to-weight ratio. The completely custom made interior features a 7″ color touch screen, DVD player, iPod and Bluetooth connectivity, and a built-in 30Gb hard drive navigation system.

The Breckland Beira can reach 60 mph from a stop in less than 5 seconds, but is limited to a top speed of 155 mph. All this for only $88,600 on the road? A bargain in supercar terms. Expect to pay more outside of the UK.

Please check out RideLust.com for more info on the Beira.

WOW!. For $88,600 I Can Get A Car That has been modified With a V8 Corvette Engine In It, And It will do 0 to 60 under 5 seconds. Now To most People that would Sound fast, but to me it don't compute In my Racing Blood.

I have A Saturn Sky Redline Turbo That Is Fully Loaded, With a 5 Speed Automatic Tranny. I Had Lambo Doors Put On It And I Had a Few Thing done to the Motor ( By the way Did I Mention That It is a 4 Cylinder) like a Chip set Put in and Headers and a few Other Goodies, Total cost, around $3,285.

And when I Run The 0 to 60, I do it in a time of 3.8 to 4.3 Seconds Depending on the Out side Temp.

I Have Blown Away 6.1 Hemi's,. Pontiac G6,. Mustangs GT's And Most all The Want to be Racers In Twin Falls Idaho.

True, That after The Quarter Mile the big V8's Will Kick My butt. My top Speed Is 165, And I have had my Car Up to 160 and had a lot of Pedal Left. And I Drive my car Ever day

I Just Turned 65 Oct 31, So The Kids Call me Old Man of the Tracks

    Happy And Safe Driving

Russell, thanks for the comment. Yes, the Sky (particularly yours) is a bargain performance-for-dollar in every sense of the word. However you have to keep in mind that people don't buy Ferraris for the quarter mile time. What I mean is that it's not just numbers that matter to most people. Yes, it's important, but the overall experience of driving is why people buy expensive cars. I'd rather have a Ferrari 360 Modena that can do 0-60 in 3.6 seconds than a heavily modified Corvette that can do it in 2.8 – no matter how much less the Vette cost.
