Review

MyHotMustang.com is owned by Kasa Auto Parts, which also owns other similar parts websites for different cars such as the Acura RSX, Dodge Charger, and Chevy Corvette.

After navigating to MyHotMustang.com, you’re greeted to a home page with a list of categories on your left, and a graphical navigation in the center with many of their available products. Simple enough. My main complaint on the home page is that the header graphics at the top of the page are very cluttered and difficult to see where everything is. A simpler top of the page would ease navigation around the site.

Unlike some other performance parts shops, MyHotMustang offers a 110% price guarantee, assuring you that you’re receiving the best price available on your parts. They also offer email support and phone customer service from 7AM to Midnight CST. My attempt at emailing customer service with a general parts question however, did not result in a reply (6 days later.)

A couple of complaints about the site in general:

There is no place to just enter your specific car on the home page (ex: 2005 Mustang GT) and have all of the parts for your car listed, like many other websites do. When you go into the specific categories however, you can choose the year of the car.

Another thing is that after you’ve found a product to buy and add it to your cart, the Checkout process is not secured, despite the “Authorize.net” badge displayed on their sidebar. This is a big deal, and poses a security threat to all customers. To find out whether a website is secure (depending on your web browser,) you should look in the top address bar and/or lower toolbar and should see a padlock. The web address should also say “https” instead of the normal “http” at the beginning of the URL. The checkout process on MyHotMustang does not, so keep that in mind before ordering.

One more thing I noticed about the website is that it seems to be catering more towards search engines than customers. Let me explain: When you create a website, you want search engines like Google and Yahoo to find you and rank you high for certain searches. So a website about computers would want to rank high for terms like “PC,” “Microsoft,” “Laptop,” etc. That way when somebody searches for those terms on search engines, your website shows up close to the top of results. To make that happen, the search engines have to know that your site is about those things, so you make sure that you have plenty of those related words on your website. MyHotMustang seems to have gone a bit overboard with that, overusing Mustang Parts related terms. The “Wheels” section for example says:

“Wide selection of Mustang Rims, Cobra Rims, aluminum wheels and Mustang Wheels. Custom Wheels and other 4 lug Ford Mustang wheel package are stocked full. Mustang wheels rims, custom aftermarket wheels and Mustang cobra wheels and Saleen rims are hot.”

They are overusing certain terms that people would search for when looking for parts, instead of making sure to make sense to the customers.

Despite the problems, MyHotMustang.com has a very wide range of parts and accessories for any year or model Mustang sure to satisfy any Stang lover. Head on over to MyHotMustang.com to check out some parts and accessories for your ride.

As for the MyHotMustang.com (Kasa Auto Parts) team, I have some recommendations:

  1. Make Paypal a payment option
  2. Make the checkout process secure
  3. De-clutter your design
  4. Change the “About” page to be personalized to each of your sites instead of copy & pasting the same one. Also de-clutter it.
  5. Make an option to choose your specific Mustang from the home page then have only those parts appear.
