Shelby Slot Car Race Track

Shelby Slot Car Race Track

Ah, slot cars, the ONLY way to enjoy drinking and driving … and check out this track. All 63 feet of it.

Anyway, if you have not played around with slot cars, and you’re a car guy (hence a reader of this site), let me just say this: It is a total hoot. I was in a car club once, and every year at the club Christmas party we’d set up a HUGE slot car track. Two of the members had, seemingly, hundreds of yards of track. We’d eat and drink and set up tortuously complex tracks in garages and through utility rooms and into kitchens. After everything was all set up, and there was no more food, but still plenty of beer on hand is when the serious bracket racing would commence. Penalty weight, time penalties, BEER penalties.

Who won? Who cares! Seriously, way too much fun.

And this track, the Shelby Slot Car Race Track, could be yours for a mere $250.

OK, I’d bet, with a budget of $250, you could buy a ton of track from eBay, a bunch of cars, controllers and all that.

And we are heading into winter, so, when you’re not spending the long winter nights dropping that new radiator into your 55 Ford, or redoing the brakes on your Evo, you might want to look into a slot car track.

Or ask Santa … AND your spouse (that will be REALLY important).
