Bugatti Veyron Sang Noir

First there was the Bugatti Veyron, and the world was stunned. Supercars everywhere, regardless of nameplate, fell to the mercy of the Bugatti’s merciless 1001 horsepower, W16 engine with a top speed in excess of 250 mph.

Then, because the Veyron seemed to not be exclusive enough, the Pur Sang was released. Called “Pure Blood”, this version exhibited the Veyron in all it’s natural glory of aluminum and carbon fiber. This was the most exclusive ever, with 5 in the entire world.

Then came several one-off editions, most notably the Bugatti Pegaso. And the most recent variation, the insanely expensive Bugatti Veyron Fbg par Hermes.

Yes, the Bugatti Veyron sure has its share of exclusive variations, and here comes yet another one, building on the “Pure Blood” idea. It was built as a tribute to the ultra-exclusive Bugatti Atlantique 57S:

The Sang Noir is derived from the French words of “sang”, meaning blood, and “noir”, meaning black. Literally it means “Blood Black” or “Black Blood”, but when you apply the Pur Sang idea, it can be taken to mean “Pure Black”.

And it, quite literally, is.

Everything is black— well, almost everything. The grill, mirror casings, roof rails, and wheels are chrome. The main section of the body is clear-coated carbon fiber. Everything else— paint, fuel cap, headlight casings, everything— is black. The interior, however, is a tan/orange color with matching leather seats, and with black lacquer trim.

As with all of the other variations, performance has not been affected, so it still will be the second fastest car in the world.

Speaking of fastest car in the world, I wonder when Bugatti will finally make the decision to once again take the title of fastest car, ’cause I’m pretty tired of seeing the SSC at the top of the list.

Anyways, this car is nothing really special, as it really is just another variation, but it is a Bugatti. Which, in itself, does make it special. And so another form of the prestigious Veyron joins the ranks, this time in the guise of “Pure Black”. Production numbers have not been announced, but I’m sure that those with the money will be clambering to get their hands on one. The rest of us, like always, can only sit back and dream.

But what the hey, dreaming’s fun too.
