If just one fastener from those cars found it's way onto the road, the liability risk would have been huge. It only took a few days production to replace em' anyway. They did the right thing. Same with concept cars. They end up crushing those (generally) beautiful machines once they're done with them. I understand they wouldn't want to sell them for street use even if they're functional - they haven't been safety tested.
