As I mentioned a little bit ago, there’s these nice (and by “nice” I mean certifiable) fellows at RS Performance that made a 500 HP V8 out of two joined Hayabusa blocks and installed it into a Caterham 7 chassis.
‘Brilliant, nothing’s gonna top this!’
Well, I was wrong (as usual).
Seems that the boys at RS decided to put the same mill into a modified Ariel Atom.
They had to alter things slightly … note the wings, I’m pretty sure those are an option on “lesser” Atoms, but they’re pretty damn necessary for something that has a power to weight ratio greater then a Veyron, but somewhat less than a Saturn V (I guess). They also mounted the intercoolers for the blower in those ducts you see just forward of the rear wheels.
At any rate, maybe I spoke too soon about the Caterham being a 2008, street legal version of a 1970 GP car … this is much, much closer, what with the wings and the mid-mounted engine and all.
Still, two words: The Nürburgring.
