Joe Kelly Jr. is a lucky guy on a number of fronts.
First, he’s got the wherewithal to afford buying models from companies like CMC & Exoto (and apparently buying them in bulk). Next, he’s got a place with enough room that he can devote an entire room to his hobby. And, probably most importantly, he’s got the backing of his wife in doing something like this.

As you can see from the photos, the guys got a substantial scale car collection … and he also noticed something else that I did: Ikea’s Billy bookcases are the perfect size for 1/18th scale cars. They just fit in, nose to tail, and with the available glass doors, it keeps the dust down (which is important for keeping my (very understanding) wife’s allergies at bay). And they’re actually fairly inexpensive too.
OK, so I don’t have the slot car track that descends from the ceiling, nor do I have the theater seating … but I do have the same cabinets. And around a ton of books.
