Avocet? Yes Please!

Avocet FrontAh, now we’re talkin’ … I like lightweight sports cars, no, I LOVE lightweight sports cars.

The smaller, the lighter, the better, as near as I can tell. Put a license plate on it and make it reliable, and I’m happy.

I’m even happier when it’s cheap. Sure, this ain’t cheap, but the more of them out there, the cheaper they’ll get over time.

Anyway, the lightweight sports car you see here is the Avocet, currently being planned by MM Industries and Roush Technologies in the UK (I’m assuming that’s Jack Roush’s outfit, and/or they have an office in England).

Besides looking right (not stunning, but nice), it hits (or aims for) all the right targets:

Weighing slightly more than 1,500 pounds and featuring a Roush-tuned 2.0-liter four cylinder kicking out 150 to 225 hp, it should be a hoot. And with an available carbon ceramic brake upgrade, stopping performance should be fine as well.

Wonder how it looks in British Racing Green?
