Well well, I could chalk this up to Dave Richards having too much time on his hands since Prodrive isn’t gong F1 racing any time soon, but why dwell on a (potential) negative.
According to the race shop itself, Aston Martin is moving up to compete with the big boys in the LMP 1 class at Le Mans.
Aston has had some measure of success racing in the lower, but still very interesting and exciting GT classes, taking on the likes of the factory-backed Chevy Corvette team.
But now, with this move, they look to fight it out against the likes of Peugeot and (gulp) Audi.
But it looks like they’re pretty darn serious, and also, worryingly (if you’re Peugeot or Audi) pretty far along without word of this slipping out until now, with the Summer Equinox little more than five months away.
This year’s Le Mans 24 Hours just got a lot more interesting.
