My Christmas Gift: Sleep Deprivation!

Following up on Tony’s post So What’d Ya Get, I got an auto-related gift for Christmas…

In case you haven’t noticed, I’m a huge video-game fan - particularly of racing games. Previously, my obsession with the Playstation 2 has gotten the better of me with awesome racing games like Gran Turismo 4 and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 (a couple of my favorites.) Now it’s only going to get worse: I got an Xbox 360 with Project Gotham Racing 4 and Forza Motorsport 2.

Since Christmas, I’ve played so much PGR4 I haven’t had time for hardly anything else; the other night a friend and I were working on getting through Arcade Mode. Next thing I know my fiancee is getting up to go to work and we’re still playing - it was 7:30AM! I haven’t done that since high school.

This game is so terribly addictive…it even has the Tesla Roadster as a playable car. And in case you were wondering, it’s almost completely silent while driving in the game - no engine noise (being electric and all) - save for a faint, high-pitched whistle at higher speeds. My favorite car in the game? The Koenigsegg CCX - just like in real life. That thing is a beast.

With DiRT, Forza Motorsport 2, and Need for Speed: Prostreet still to play, I have a great excuse to stay out of this freezing-cold crappy mid-west weather.
